Construction Materials Testing Field Technician
Full Time Permanent Position
ACA Engineering, an engineering firm located in the north hills of Pittsburgh, is seeking multiple field technicians for construction materials testing and inspection work. Our field technicians observe contractors on construction sites and perform basic soils, concrete, asphalt and masonry tests to ensure that testing, sampling, and inspections comply with drawings, specifications and applicable industry standards. The ideal candidate must:
- Be able to interpret project plans, drawings and specifications, anticipate construction issues and recommend solutions.
- Provide written documentation of construction observations and materials.
- Maintain accurate construction records.
- Have good math, written and oral communication skills.
- Be able to manage own time with little supervision.
Prior experience is a plus but not necessary. We are willing to train the right candidates.
All candidates must:
- Have a high school diploma or the equivalent.
- Have a valid driver’s license, own vehicle and current insurance.
- Be able to work in various weather conditions.
- Be able to lift 30 to 50 pounds repeatedly.
- Be reliable. Attendance is Highly Critical.
- Be flexible. Overtime and weekend hours are mandatory and with minimal notice.
- Have a basic knowledge of Pittsburgh areas and/or be able to find locations with minimal information.
Preferred candidates will have:
- Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, Engineering Technologies or related field
- Prior experience in construction materials testing.
- Current ACI Level I Concrete, Troxler Nuclear Gauge Safety Training Certification, Penndot Concrete, NECEPT Bituminous Field Technician, and/or NECEPT Plant Technician Certifications.
Light day-travel is required and occasional overnight travel is requested. This is a growing company with plenty of work.
