Originally known as the Accountancy and Business College, Dublin Business School (DBS) was established in 1975. At the time, the college only had evening classes for the candidates who were studying for their professional accounting bodies exams. Now it has become one of the two biggest independent colleges in Ireland. In 2003, Kaplan, Inc, a subdivision of Graham Holdings Company acquired Dublin Business School, impressed by the progress it had made.

With its main campus in Aungier Street, the college has four educational sites across Dublin. There are a variety of subjects including law, accounting and finance, arts, information technology, and media and journalism. DBS has three different schools, namely the School of Arts, Professional School, and the School of Business and Law.
