Basic Information:  Arizona State Universityโ€™s (ASU) College of Nursing and Health Innovation is located in Phoenix, Arizona at the Downtown Phoenix Campus. Arizona state university nursing program requirements

Effective Fall 2021, first-year student applicants who meet one of the following sets of criteria will be offered direct admission to nursing:

  • Top 10% of high school graduating class or 3.50 in ASU competency courses (based on 4.00 grading scale) AND no math or science competency deficiencies.

    OR
  • Top 25% of high school graduating class or 3.30 GPA in ASU competency courses AND either a 24 ACT or 1170 SAT combined evidence-based reading and writing plus math score.

There are additional English language proficiency requirements for applicants whose native language is not English:

  • Minimum score of 540 (paper-based), 207 (computer-based), or 76 (internet-based) on the TOEFL.
  • Minimum overall band of 6.5 with no band below 5.5 on the IELTS.

Nursing applicants who do not meet the above requirements will be admitted to our community health major. Community health students will complete coursework that mirrors the nursing prerequisites, and may apply through the Competitive Application Process for vacant seats in the nursing program that have not been filled by direct admission students. There is no guarantee vacant seats will be available.

Continuing Eligibility Criteria

  • Enroll in the courses following the published course sequence on the BSN Nursing major map.
  • 3.50 minimum critical (prerequisite) course GPA each semester.
  • Courses taken at institutions other than ASU, during the required semester, must have the grades recorded on the ASU system by the final grading deadline (degree conferral dates) per the ASU Academic Calendar.
  • Grades of C or better in critical (prerequisite) courses.
  • Successful completion of all Health and Safety Requirements.
