The Mississippi State PreVet Curriculum (MSCVP) is a set of four professional veterinary curriculum that provides students, preveterinary faculty and veterinary educators with the foundations in the basic and clinical sciences that underpin successful veterinary education and provide a pathway for lifelong learning. Current and accurate, the Mississippi State University (MSU) Pre-Veterinary Curriculum is coordinated and supervised by the MSU Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences and is accepted as the standard for those students seeking to obtain a Bachelor of Science pre-veterinary degree. The curriculum is designed to give you a strong academic preparation for applying to veterinary school.

The Mississippi Pre-Vet Program has been developed to meet the recommended curriculum from the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges. Students enrolled in the State-supported cooperative program will be expected to complete all requirements for admission to a degree programs accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association’s Council on Education. The Pre-Vet Program is part of The Mississippi Vet Med Program, and students do not own their educational record. Their record is owned and governed by the State of Mississippi and can be released only by The Mississippi Board of Veterinary Medicine, and only to the individual State-approved veterinary school(s) they plan to attend.

The MSU CVM professional curriculum provides courses leading to the doctor of veterinary medicine degree (DVM), which is a four-year curriculum. Graduate programs of study offered in the College lead to the MS or PhD degree in selected areas of specialization. We began offering an undergraduate program in veterinary medical technology in 2010, and the first class with a BS degree graduated in the spring of 2012.
