UF accelerated nursing admissions provide students with the same technology, resources, and rigorous pre-licensure programs available to family nurse practitioner (FNP) students. More than 90% of UF FNP graduates are accepted into their top three schools in US News & World Report ‘s Best Graduate Schools. The UF accelerated nursing program was recognized in 2014 as the only entirely web-based, eight-course accelerated BSN program to achieve national board exam pass rates that are at or above most traditional entry-level BSN programs.

UF is one of the nation’s top 25 programs with an accelerated nursing program that allows you to earn your Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree in two years. The Accelerated BSN Track is open to high school seniors, college freshmen who are incoming freshman fall semester applicants, currently enrolled UF students who are sophomore or junior standing, and current UF juniors or seniors.

UF Accelerated Nursing is designed to help you get into the nursing program that works best for you. It begins with the on-site evaluation that measures your individual academic profile, and continues with a flexible program of study to prepare students for multiple entry points in Florida or Texas. Our online program offers accelerated course schedules for working nurses. Classes meet every Sunday from February through December at any University of Florida campus in Florida, and limited sessions in February and October in Texas. UF’s Accelerated BSN Nursing program can be completed in one year. There are two ways to apply: (1.) Apply and be accepted to UF and (2.) Apply and be accepted to the Accelerated BSN Nursing only. The only downside to Florida is the annual mean wage for nurses; in May of 2018, nurses in Florida earned a mean wage of $66,210, lower than the nation’s mean wage of $75,510. 

However, the wage nurses might earn depends on where they live. According to the BLS, nurses in Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach earned a mean wage of $69,500, where nurses in Panama City earned just $57,210.

• Accreditation (regional and national)

Why you should care about the nursing program’s accreditation  

Accreditation is how schools can prove that their programs are high-quality. If a school in unaccredited, you may not be eligible for forms of financial aid. Nurses also might be turned away from potential employers if their degree is from an unaccredited school. 

The two nursing accreditation organizations to look for are

• Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
• Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN)

If a school is accredited by one of these institutions, then their nursing program adheres to strict national standards.

Getting a License in Florida

Florida is part of the Enhanced Nursing Licensure Compact (eNLC), so becoming an RN in Florida means you’re also eligible to work as a nurse in 24 other states.

To become an RN, you’ll need to:

• Take and pass the NCLEX-RN
• Pass a criminal background check and submit your fingerprints
• Apply to become a nurse via the Florida Board of Nursing

All I can say is that, I love the Davie campus! So friendly and a conducive learning environment. I am a transfer student from Broward College and I am used to a smaller learning enviorment and the campus is the perfect fit for me. The people are so friendly, encouraging you to participate in activities. Also, the professors actually care. Since it is a smaller class they really can get to know you in an intimate setting and not just by iClicker. I wish I could stay at Davie for the rest of my time there but I know I’ll be graduating on the main campus. It’s great.

There are so many opportunities to be involved in hundreds of clubs, sports, and activities. Career services is also useful in providing career/internship/resume/etc. help every week! UT has a beautiful campus and many amazing new buildings (such as the Graduate Health Sciences building, Palm apartments, etc.). The fitness center is state of the art (AMAZING) and has its own calisthenics room. UT also has a pool open to students and has very strong sports teams such as volleyball, baseball, and swimming, etc. The Honors Program provides many opportunities for extended learning, symposia, and networking.
    CONS: UT wifi is often very poor, arguably too much money is spent on landscaping, and there is no housing for juniors and seniors (who must move off-campus).

Some professors are more kind and willing to help than others, but that is like any college or university. The campus is quite small and easy to navigate through which makes getting from one class to the next very simple. Many of the students go to all sporting events to show their support, which is always fun to be apart of. I absolutely love the fact that the campus is right on the water! The only problem was all of the construction that was going on, and continuing to go on, but part of that was due to Hurricane Micheal. With that being said, my first year in college was quite unusual considering we underwent a category 4 or 5 hurricane during the fall. Even though it was a tragedy, all the staff and students did what they could to help one another out, as well as everyone in the community.

The instructors are quick to respond to any questions I may have. Student services provide support that is second to none, highly impressed. I am a mother of three, work full time, and now also attending graduate school to pursue my FNP. To say my life is busy would be an understatement, and having the flexibility to do my coursework from home is a huge advantage. I genuinely enjoy the fact that I can take my courses one at a time in eight-week increments, and it is still full-time. We as humans were not created to multitask but instead focus on one thing at a time, and being able to do that at Chamberlain is a godsend. Thank you, Chamberlain, for an enjoyable experience thus far.

If you are looking for a school to attend I highly recommend this amazing school! Professors help inside and outside the classroom. As for the college itself, they have job fairs and opportunities to learn within your field of study. They help with jobs within the school to help with costs. Professors are super helpful. Everyone that works for the college is super nice and willing to go out of their way to help. Miami Dade College focuses not just on the academic part of their students’ lives but also on the emotional aspect of it. They hold mental health events where there are free massages and have a counselor on campus to help with the stress of life.
