The first thing you should know about Bishop’s University is that our acceptance rate is currently at 84%. That means that if 100 people apply and 84 of them are accepted. The remaining 16 people are not.

It’s important to note that this number only applies to applicants who have completed their applications by the deadline of March 1st each year. If you apply after that date, then your chances are significantly lower than those who applied before March 1stโ€”we recommend applying early!

You must have at least 4 years of high school education or equivalent before applying to Bishop’s University, but you do not necessarily need to have completed all four years before applying. Bishop University is located in Lennoxville, Quebec, Canada and was founded in 1963. The school has a student body of 7,000 students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs.

The undergraduate program offers more than 40 majors within the areas of arts, science and business. Students can also choose to study abroad during their time at Bishop through various exchange programs or study-abroad options.

In order to apply for admission at Bishop University, prospective students must have completed their high school education with a minimum GPA of 2.0 out of 4.0; however, this requirement may vary depending on the major you wish to pursue at this university.

1. Go to the Online Application page by clicking the button below: Apply to study at BU

2. Select the application form that applies to you. Complete the application form and submit it electronically. You will then be re-directed to the payment page and asked to submit an application fee of $65 CAD via credit card.
(Exception: Students applying for an exchange program from approved partner institutions do not pay an application fee).

3. Following the payment you will have the option to upload any supporting documents for your application. If you do not have the documents ready yet, you can submit them at a later date directly to the Admissions Office by email (admissions@ubishops.ca), in person during our regular business hours, or by post to the following address:

*Unofficial documents submitted by email can be accepted in order to make a conditional offer of admission. Final official documents must be submitted in order to confirm any such offer.

4. In the days following the submission of your application, you will receive an email with your log-in information to access your myBU portal where you will be able to track the status of your application.

5. Once we begin evaluating applications for a given cycle, admissions files are assessed on a rolling basis. What this means is that as soon as all required documents are received, our office will complete an initial evaluation within 10 business days. (Exception: Masterโ€™s Programs and Applications for our Music programs, which need to be evaluated based on their audition as well).

Lump-sum payment of $100 for students: Application procedure

When the Quรฉbec budget was presented on March 25, 2021, a lump sum payment of $100 per term for full-time college and university students was announced. The measure aims to acknowledge the difficulties experienced by the students during the COVID-19 health crisis during the fall 2020 and winter 2021 terms.

Eligible students will be asked to fill out the lump-sum application. It will be available on the Bishopโ€™s University myBU/students, as of July 2, 2021. Payments will be made starting on September 15, 2021.

If a student prefers to complete their application in a printable format (PDF), they should send their request to the Registrarโ€™s Office of their institution. The PDF will be available from the Registrarsโ€™ Office as of July 2, 2021.

Deadline for payment of fees:

All students registering at Bishopโ€™s University are required to pay their school fees each semester before the deadline dates listed below:

  • Fall (First semester): September 30
  • Winter (Second semester): January 30
  • Spring / Summer (Third semester): May 20

* Please note that a โ€œtypicalโ€ course will be worth 3 credits and that most students will take 5 courses per semester for a total of 30 credits over one academic year (September to April). Bishopโ€™s also offers a condensed Spring session (May and June).[1] Please note that a health insurance fee is billed for international students per semester: $424 in Fall (First semester), $374 in Winter (Second semester), and $279 during summer (Third semester). International students not living in Canada for the semester can sign a waiver letter to request the removal of the international insurance fee (certain conditions apply).[2] Please note that Master Science students on thesis-based are billed 9 credits every semester for 5 semesters. These 9 credits have to be from the Master Science Program. Any course taken other than a course that belongs to the program will be billed apart.[3] The Sports Centre fee ($45.75 per semester, included in the compulsory fees) wonโ€™t be charged to students taking all their courses online.[4] Please note that these fees are estimated based on actual costs for the 2021-22 academic year. Costs may fluctuate based on the academic program, number of courses taken, style of residence and meal plan chosen. All costs are shown in Canadian dollars (CAD).

Procedures for payment of school fees

Once you have completed the online registration process, you will be able to view the total amount due for your first semester tuition and compulsory fees:

  1. Visit Self-Service in myBU;
  2. Click on the Finances tab;
  3. Click on Balance.

Only courses that are registered on your file will be billed automatically. Courses that are pending or on the waitlist will not be billed to your account.

IMPORTANT NOTICE CONCERNING QUEBEC RESIDENCY: Students born in Quebec are automatically placed in the Quebec tuition category, Quebec birth certificate required. If you are eligible for Quebec tuition and were not born in Quebec you will be required to provide supporting documents within the semester you are eligible.  Please see the Quebec Residency page to determine the documents required.

If you are being billed international fees and you are Canadian, it means we are missing your Canadian birth certificate or proof of citizenship. This will need your attention right away.

Bishops University, in the province of Quebec, Canada is a highly ranked university with an impressive academic reputation.

The university requires students to maintain a minimum GPA of 2.8 in order to stand a good chance to get admission into Bishops University. Students can apply for admission by submitting their application form on the school’s website.

The university has been ranked as one of the top 100 universities in Canada by Maclean’s magazine and one of the top 5 in Quebec. It has 21 research centres and institutes that include Centre de recherche sur les รฉnergies renouvelables (CREER), Centre d’รฉtudes nordiques et arctiques (CENA) and Centre d’รฉtudes sur la migration internationale (CEMI).

Bishops University has more than 15,000 students enrolled in its various programs which include arts, humanities, science, engineering and technology as well as business management programs.

This requirement is set by the school’s board of governors and can only be changed by them if they decide that it is appropriate to do so. The school does not regularly lower its GPA requirement for any reason, but sometimes students who do not meet this standard are given an opportunity to appeal on medical grounds or personal circumstances (such as military service).
