Students can select either the Radio Access and Networks (WCE-RAN) or Radio Frequency Engineering (WCE-RF) study option. In addition to the student’s preference, the field of his/her Bachelor’s or equivalent studies and the possible interview are taken into account when the study option is confirmed.

There are no entrance-exams or pre-determined quotas of study places for WCE-RAN and WCE-RF study options. It is important to notice that mandatory courses of one specialization option can be taken as elective courses in other option, if a student wishes to broaden his/her expertise into the area of other study option.

As 5G enters its deployment phase, 6G Flagship supports global industry in the finalization of the 5G standard especially through joint projects, trials and demonstrations. At the same time, 6G Flagship experts are already working on essential technology components and solutions needed for the 2030 wireless era and seeking for major scientific breakthroughs in the interrelated domains of wireless connectivity, device and circuit technologies, distributed intelligent computing, and novel applications and services. Verticals such as Industry 4.0, Health, Energy and Autonomous Driving gain special attention in the programme. With its approach, 6G Flagship envisions a future society, which is data-driven and enabled by near instant, unlimited wireless connectivity.

Centre for Wireless Communications (CWC) offers fixed-term Research Assistant (RA) positions for a limited number of most talent students applying for the International Master’s Degree Programme in Wireless Communications Engineering (WCE) in January 2021. The students should start their two-year Master’s studies in Oulu in September 2021.
