A working group comprising of staff from IT Sligo, staff from Kempten University Germany, regional skills fora and Automotive companies such as Jaguar LandRover (JLR), Valeo, Analog Devices, General Motors and Xperi have developed the programme. Personnel from the working group will be engaged to deliver guest lectures on the latest updates on autonomous driving/safety/legislation, thereby keeping the course at the cutting edge of where this industry is in Ireland. It is also envisaged that students on the programme will engage with various industries in workshops where they will see the technology in action.
The programme also has the support of IDA, and the working group have been in consultation with them to ensure the program aligns with their strategy for the development of the industry within the region and country wide.
The programme also has the support of the cross-agency group CAV (Connected and Autonomous Group). Members of the working group are also members of CAV, and it is envisaged that the programme will continually align with the outputs of the CAV group.
Entry Requirements
Graduates with a Level 8 Honours Degree 2:2 or above in Electronic Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline are eligible to apply for this programme. Programming knowledge and Level 8 Engineering Maths are pre-requisites to the course.
Applicants who do not meet these criteria, but have the willingness to address them will be considered. Candidate interviews and entrance exams will be used to assess suitability for the programme.

The project work includes an R&D project and a final thesis project.
