Grad Programs That Don’t Require the GRE in Georgia (GA)

Whether you are a working professional who doesn’t have the time or resources to take the GRE or if you are just looking for graduate programs that won’t require GRE scores, there are several options for graduate studies in Georgia that don’t require the GRE for admission. You could earn a graduate degree in social work, education, or business.

Master of Social Work

The Master of Social Work degree seeks to prepare students for careers in the field of social work. Some programs in Georgia will not require GRE scores for entrance.

Clark Atlanta University

Clark Atlanta University’s MSW program has no GRE requirement at all. However, you will need to have a bachelor’s degree as well as several course credits in social and behavioral sciences, biology, and mathematics. You must also submit letters of recommendation and a personal statement. This program offers a two-year and a three-year plan of study for 59 credit hours and an advanced standing plan for 38 credits. During the course of your program, you will study the theories of social work and will need to choose a concentration in either child and family or health and mental health.

Valdosta State University

Valdosta State University offers an on-campus MSW that will take two years of full-time study to complete, a web-hybrid MSW that takes three to four years to complete, or an advanced standing MSW (for those with an accredited undergraduate social work degree) that takes one year. All three programs allow for the study of such topics as human behavior, social work theories, and other social work practices. You will not have to submit GRE scores as long as you submit passing scores from the Miller Analogies Test (MAT). Other admission requirements include holding a liberal arts undergraduate degree with an overall 2.5 GPA; having courses in the humanities, math, and social sciences; and submitting transcripts, letters of recommendation, and a resume.

Master of Education (M.Ed)

The Master of Education degree is aimed at current teachers who want to either expand their teaching knowledge or become specialized in a certain teaching field. Here are two programs in Georgia that won’t require the GRE.

University of North Georgia

The University of North Georgia offers an M.Ed. in middle grades math and science, early childhood education, and curriculum and instruction. You will be exempt from the GRE requirement as long as you have an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or above or have already earned a master’s degree. Other admission requirements include a bachelor’s degree, transcripts, an application, and a renewable teaching certificate. These programs are composed of 36 credit hours and require core coursework, teaching field content, and specialized coursework. Some programs offer both late afternoon and evening classes as well as study aboard opportunities.

Georgia Southwestern State University

Georgia Southwestern State University offers admission into its M.Ed. without GRE scores. This program will allow you to choose from a range of specializations that include special education, middle grades, early childhood, and middle grade math, among others. The M.Ed. was designed to be completed in only 13 months with classes held on five Saturdays in the fall and spring semesters and then two classes a week throughout the month of June, which allows you to work or teach during the degree program. For admission, you will need an application, a bachelor’s degree, transcripts, a professional profile, a commitment letter, and recommendation forms.

Master of Business (MBA)

An MBA is a degree for those who want to study the field of business, finance, or management. Because most MBA programs are geared towards working professionals, the GRE is often waived.

Georgia State University

Georgia State University offers a flex MBA degree that can be attended full time, part time, or on your own schedule. You can also specialize in marketing, health care management, fintech, or other concentrations. If you have already earned a master’s degree, have at least five years of professional experience, or have an undergraduate GPA of 3.25 or above, you will not have to submit GRE or GMAT scores. You will need to submit an application, a resume, an essay, letters of recommendation, and transcripts.

Clayton State University

The MBA at Clayton State University offers a variety of ways to gain admittance to the program that won’t include submitting GRE or GMAT scores. If you hold a bachelor’s with a 3.0 GPA, you can also submit an essay of purpose and three professional references to gain admittance without the GRE. If you hold a bachelor’s with a 2.75 GPA, you can submit an essay of purpose and three professional references and then undergo an interview. Or, you can substitute the interview for three years of professional experience. This program can be completed in about one year, and you can choose from concentrations such as accounting, digital marketing, or international business.

In Georgia, you can choose from several different graduate programs that could help you advance your career. You could earn a degree in social work, education, or business without ever having to take the GRE.Next: View SchoolsLink to this page
