Red Deer College was established in 1964, and its initial focus was to provide education to a smaller, semi-rural community in the province. However, its four and a half decade of academic existence has evolved and grown into the third largest college in the province. It started with only 119 students, and has since expanded to 20,000 students. However, despite this increase in size, RDC has never lost the intimate community environment that it gives to its learners. The College is located in Red Deer, Alberta Canada. It is situated in the central Alberta corridor between Calgary and Edmonton. It is near the Queen Elizabeth II highway, and only an hour and a half’s drive from the major provincial city centers. The CollegeSide is a partnership project of the David Thompson Health Region, RDC, and the Bethany Care Society. It is a unique home-like facility for students who study under the computer, humanities, performing arts, and also nursing and rehabilitation departments.

In 2005, the college constructed a $29 million fund for an initiative called “Healthy Communities Complex.” It is also undergoing a “greener campus” campaign that helps to inform and educate the College community of the value of energy and water conservation. The school will implement more programs, such as recycling, and alternative modes of transportation (bicycling and walking).

A non-refundable tuition deposit is required for all new and returning international students admitted to a Fall term credit program (excluding TVP) and all new and returning international students admitted to a Winter or Spring term credit program.  Continuing students are not required to pay a tuition deposit.

Red Deer College Scholarships and Financial Aid for International Students

Red Deer College offers several scholarships for international students to study in Canada and people at various levels connected to the college. Of all these awards students are eligible for few of the scholarships which are mentioned below:

  • Entrance Awards and Scholarships: Students who have joined the college in the first year or students enrolled in the university who are changing program and will be considered as a first year student. Students can apply via the General Awards Application by May 31, 2021 for this scholarship.
  • Students who are currently studying in high school and plan to attend Red Deer College next year can apply for the Building Excellence Award and avail upto 85% tuition fee waiver. To apply students need to submit a transcript with detailed academic report for availing the scholarship
  • Current Student Awards Scholarship: Current Students who are enrolled in credit programming are eligible for this scholarship. Students need to fill the General Awards Application in the Loop Account by May 31, 2021.
  • School of Continuing Education Awards and Scholarships: Students who are enrolled in School of Continuing Education Pre-Employment trades program or enrolled in non-credit programming offered by School of Continuing Education are eligible for this scholarship.   • Athletic Scholarships: This award is for students who are student-athletes and are a part of Red Deer College Athletics Team. The award may be a monetary sum or a recruitment offer.
