California Institute of Technology

Both bachelor’s degrees in mathematics include required coursework in real analysis, algebra, and complex analysis. The mathematics and philosophy major integrates coursework in mathematical logic, set theory, and computability and logic, while the bachelor’s in mathematics and physics emphasizes the interaction of the two fields, including mathematics requirements and six advanced physics classes.

During the first two years of Yale’s mathematics doctoral program, learners take eight classes to prepare for qualifying examinations. They then submit a dissertation prospectus and teach undergraduate courses as they write and defend dissertations.
