  1. Southwestern Assemblies of God University: 4 Year Waxahachie, TX 798 reviews #1 Best College Dorms in Texas Freshman: This college is one of the best colleges I have ever been too. The teachers care a lot about you since it is a smaller college and they can work one on one with you. So, I wouldn’t worry too much about not passing. The cafeteria is a buffet and filled with delicious goods. Athletics are on another level; Yes they are a small school but take athletics seriously. The student life consists of everyone being a family and filled with energetic activities. SAGU is the place to be!
  2. LeTourneau University: 4 Year Longview, TX 657 reviews #2 Best College Dorms in Texas Sophomore: I love my university! Although it is a small campus and a small student body, it makes it very easy to connect with others around you. The programs that we offer are very hands on. As an education major, I was working in schools and with children in my first year. This school is not known for its education program, however, it excels in all of the degrees they offer. Since LeTourneau University is a Christian Campus, you will no find any frat parties. We do have fun events every Friday night that rang from movie nights, to dance, to painting with Bob Ross!
  3. Rice University: 4 Year Houston, TX 1,048 reviews #3 Best College Dorms in Texas: Sophomore: The culture at Rice is amazing! We are a diverse community of scholars who value collaboration, not cut-throat competition. We value what known as a “culture of care,” and I believe this makes us unique from all other elite schools. The professors are amazing, classes push you and challenge former beliefs, and the community becomes family. Rice University is an amazing place, even with intense academics.
  4. Texas Christian University: 4 Year Fort Worth, TX 1,582 reviews #4 Best College Dorms in Texas: Sophomore: TCU is by far the best college you could choose. From student involvement to ability to get a job, TCU has it all. There are so many opportunities for students to be involved in campus whether it be in our 150+ clubs on campus or in any of our TCU student run organizations. TCU also has a 90% chance of students receiving a job within six months of graduation and that number jumps to 96% after a year. TCU has an amazing community that allows students to feel like they always have something to do. The 800 events held on campus over the course of the year allow students to connect and meet new people. The restaurants on and off campus are all amazing and Fort Worth offers amazing food options and things to do all within a 15 minute drive! Whether you decide to go hang out at Sundance Square or go line dancing at Billy Bob’s your nights will always be filled with friends and fun! Choose TCU and become a horned frog!
  5. Dallas Baptist University: 4 Year Dallas, TX 950 reviews #5 Best College Dorms in Texas: Niche User: The campus is beautiful and the staff is extremely helpful. Everyone is so friendly and personable. I loved attending chapel and worshiping with everyone on campus. The reason I chose to go to DBU is because of the baseball team, chapel, and their partnership with Baylor Medical for nursing students. DBU IS HOME!
  6. East Texas Baptist University: 4 Year Marshall, TX 434 reviews #6 Best College Dorms in Texas: Sophomore: As a whole, East Texas Baptist University has so far been a wonderful experience for someone like me who prefers a small-town feel in their college, as well as more Christ-focused learning. Simultaneously, the professors assist your education and faith, all whilst being generally friendly and accepting of whoever you may be. The classes can be a little difficult, though that honestly depends on your ability to adapt to the use of Canvas in all your classes, and the class in specific you are in. Even if you aren’t doing the best, you only need to ask a fellow student or professor, and 9.5 times out of 10 you’ll be sure to get the assistance you need. With some of the on-campus activities, namely pre-test study sessions the professors set up, asking for help usually isn’t required. My only complaint would be the surrounding area, Marshal. I understand not everywhere in America is nice, however, Marshal and the campus contrast vastly in appearance and a feeling of safety.
  7. Angelo State University: 4 Year San Angelo, TX 1,255 reviews #7 Best College Dorms in Texas: Alum: The best thing about Angelo State University is its overall affordability. They are an elite higher education establishment that is available to anyone willing to apply. The university goes above and beyond by offering the CARR scholarship to any student who takes an ACT or SAT, and based on their reported score they’ll be offered a scholarship. That alone is enough to make any student contemplating a public university to at least apply. The location in San Angelo, TX is great as well. It is a historic metro-area in beautiful West Texas with plenty of activities to keep any college student busy during the week and on weekends. Angelo State is growing as well they have recently broke 10,000 students enrolled which is a major accomplishment for any NCAA Division II school. Overall, I can’t recommend Angelo State University to anyone and everyone because they make everyone feel like someone!
  8. University of Mary Hardin-Baylor: 4 Year Belton, TX 1,025 reviews #8 Best College Dorms in Texas: Freshman: The University of Mary Hardin Baylor is a very Christ centered university. If you’re looking to grow your relationship with the Lord then I highly suggest applying to UMHB. My junior year I toured the school and as soon as I stepped foot on campus I heard God tell me this was the school He was leading me towards. I was really nervous about going to college and being away from my parents, but UMHB made my first semester so memorable. The first week before your classes start is called “welcome week” and the university puts on a week full of fun interactive activities that keep you engaged and help you adjust leaving everything you know behind. Throughout the year UMHB puts on different organizations to keep you occupied and sociable. I am in love with the school God led me to and can not wait to see what else is in store for my future!
  9. Wayland Baptist University: 4 Year Plainview, TX 339 reviews #9 Best College Dorms in Texas. Junior: Great university! It is a private education, with public cost. The classes are not too big, which makes it easier for students to gain relationships with teachers and to learn in a more personal way. The campus is beautiful and there is always fun activities going on so everyone can be involved!
  10. Southwestern Adventist University4 Year Keene, TX 403 reviews #10 Best College Dorms in Texas. Sophomore: Southwestern has teachers who are invested in their students success and help them understand concepts after class, their science department offers a diverse range of classes from general chemistry to Ecology and Wildlife management. The music department has excellent teachers and resources for students who want to improve on or learn an instrument, or join the choir. This school is filled with quality people in all departments and a family atmosphere between students and staff. There are also several opportunities to get involved in research, such as the Dinosaur Science Museum on campus that allows students to learn how to clean, photograph, work with a database, give tours, and many other things that introduce the student to what good science really is.
  11. University of Texas – Permian Basin. 4 Year Odessa, TX 634 reviews #11 Best College Dorms in Texas. Freshman: For a small college, it’s great! An actual person instead of a number to the school. See a little bit of everything on terms of diversity. Campus is very clean, dorms are well taken care of. Food’s pretty good. Always something going on for the students to get involved and meet new people on campus instead of going somewhere off campus possibly risking their safety here in the West Texas oilfields as you see not so friendly environments.
  12. Lubbock Christian University: 4 Year Lubbock, TX 488 reviews #12 Best College Dorms in Texas. Freshman: Lubbock Christian University is a well rounded University to attend. The Christian based curriculum is very well taught and you see it within all departments of study. The faculty truly cares and wants to help you succeed in every aspect of your life; physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and academically. If you are willing to put in the work then they are willing to get you to where you need to be. On top of the amazing staff the food and other services within the university are just as good as any where else if not better. If you think you will be bored, you can’t. Campus constantly has things going on whether its social clubs, intramurals, sports, and even speakers. I highly encourage you to check out Lubbock Christian University.
  13. Schreiner University: 4 Year Kerrville, TX 404 reviews #13 Best College Dorms in Texas. Freshman: My first semester at Schreiner was a dream come true! Everyone there is extremely nice faculty and students included. I really enjoyed the small classroom setting because I could ask questions and really be a part of discussions. The second semester was a little crazy because of the virus but the school handled everything with class and made the transition to online classes smooth. Overall I really enjoyed my first year at Schreiner, go Mountaineers!
  14. Southern Methodist University: 4 Year Dallas, TX 1,465 reviews #14 Best College Dorms in Texas. Niche User: The campus is absolutely beautiful! The architecture of the building are very similar to those of Ancient Greek. The staff that was giving us a tour was nice and answered any question i had to ask. One of my favorite parts of the visit was that they have “therapy” dogs in the library, which is supposed to help students with stress that they get from school.
  15. Saint Edward’s University: 4 Year Austin, TX 1,192 reviews #15 Best College Dorms in Texas. Junior: I love St. Ed’s! The things I’ve grown to truly appreciate are the community and campus’ beauty, as well as the caring professors. The professors truly care about students, and the small campus allows for more connection and individualized educational experience! Also, the residence life on campus does an extraordinary job at making all students feel welcomed and fosters diversity and individual learning experiences.
  16. Trinity University – Texas: 4 Year San Antonio, TX 689 reviews #16 Best College Dorms in Texas. Sophomore: I am an international student at Trinity. Trinity has furnished me with countless great memories. With three years of required on-camps housing, you will definitely feel at home here and experience the southern hospitality on campus. Also, Trinity’s challenging courses and respectful + intellectual student body will help you grow as a well-rounded and open-minded person. Enrolling at Trinity was one of the best decisions of my life! My amazing teachers and friends made this campus my sanctuary, San Antonio my hometown, and Spurs my favorite team! I hope it will be home for many great people as well.
  17. University of Texas at Dallas: 4 Year Richardson, TX 2,224 reviews #17 Best College Dorms in Texas. Freshman: Good school for academics, especially for technology-based majors. Lots of academic clubs, and also several for card, board, and role-playing games. There’s even an orchestra that only plays music from video games and anime! Additionally, this school has one of the best sports teams in the nation. It’s a great environment for those who are happy to be a little bit geeky. What’s great to me is that it doesn’t matter what religion you practice, what race you are, your gender or orientation, your political views, or your major; generally speaking, people are pretty inviting and will readily form small groups to play games together, study, or just hang out. It’s easy to find a home here even if you aren’t normally the social type because there are so many interests represented.
  18. Baylor University: 4 Year Waco, TX 4,148 reviews #18 Best College Dorms in Texas. Junior: The environment that surrounds the campus is astounding. People from across the world travel to Baylor university to experience the captivating traditions Baylor bears create week after week. From running the Baylor line to Christmas on 5th street, Baylor constantly looks for ways to not just make your money worth, but to assure you that you made the right decision in choosing your college and education. One experience of this was welcome week when I first moved in. There are community leaders that make you feel welcome into the apartment complex of where you’ll be staying by helping you move in and offer stress free Sundays or painting with a twist, activities that are designed for you to meet others and on occasion, even get free food! If anyone hits the mark for overachieving, its Baylor and it’s where you want to be.
  19. St. Mary’s University – Texas: 4 Year San Antonio, TX 1,012 reviews #19 Best College Dorms in Texas. Sophomore: St. Mary’s University is a small school with a wonderful faculty and staff. I have enjoyed being able to build relationships with each professor I have taken a class from, even in the classes that I did not enjoy. The campus community is quite small, but this allows you to build relationships with your peers because you most likely will have them in another class later on. Overall, an enjoyable experience so far!
  20. Midwestern State University: 4 Year Wichita Falls, TX 1,043 reviews #20 Best College Dorms in Texas. Sophomore: Everyone at the school is very nice – students, faculty, ad staff. The professors are very willing to help you succeed, and the small class sizes afford them this opportunity. Even though the school is rather small, they still have many wonderful teachers that even have national awards and recognitions. It is easy to get involved on campus in many organizations. There is something for everyone. The campus itself is great! The dorms are modern and accommodating. The academic buildings have a beautiful antique facade, and the campus is small enough to be trekked in less than ten minutes! The school could be improved just by continuing to add more educational programs.
  21. Abilene Christian University: 4 Year Abilene, TX 1,322 reviews #21 Best College Dorms in Texas. Freshman: Although I have not attended yet, (upcoming freshman), a lot of my family members did. My grandparents, parents, aunts, uncle, and cousin all went to ACU. My cousin is the most recent family member who went there so I actually got to visit the campus and dorms. Everyone is extremely friendly and welcoming there! There’s just this happy aura walking around the campus. I get excited when we go visit my cousin because it feels like home. I would recommend going to anyone who is thinking about going.
  22. University of Texas – Arlington4 Year Arlington, TX 4,028 reviews #22 Best College Dorms in Texas. Alum: UTA is predominately a commuter so there aren’t usually a whole lot of activities occurring on campus. However, if you try and get involved there are a lot of clubs that have activities and fundraiser a few times a semester. The campus is beautiful, I always preferred to study outside. Most of my professors were great and I was able to develop lasting relationships with several of them. Most of the buildings are on the older side with most of the funding going to the engineering and nursing programs but the biology program wasn’t too shabby. The Mac, the gym on campus, gave you the opportunity to play just about any sport you wanted to. And even if you don’t like the fast food food on campus, there are lots of other places to eat fairly close by. There is a hub for Vietnamese food only a few streets down which is delicious!
  23. University of St. Thomas – Texas: 4 Year Houston, TX 639 reviews #23 Best College Dorms in Texas. Freshman: This school is a COMMUNITY! Since it is smaller you are able to have better relationships with the professors and staff. Everyone is super nice and helpful. Professors know your name and interests, you are definitely not just a number at this school! I would definitely recommend for someone who needs the personal experience when learning!
  24. Tarleton State University: 4 Year Stephenville, TX 1,713 reviews #24 Best College Dorms in Texas. Junior: This a great institution! They offer classes on a variety of campuses in a variety of formats. I have succeeded at both online and in person classes. My only trouble is the cost. Although, it is lower than a private university, it is still expensive and college should be free for all who wish to attend.
  25. Texas A&M University – Texarkana: 4 Year Texarkana, TX 202 reviews #25 Best College Dorms in Texas. Junior: Texas A & M University at Texarkana is a wonderful institution that truly cares about the students that attend and are looking to attend. I personally have had professors that are very communicative and clear with their instruction. The atmosphere that is created at the university is warm and inviting. It is a beautiful campus with a well-rounded faculty. The professors and advisers respond fast to email and are always willing to help with any questions that you may have. I transferred there my junior year in college, and it was the best decision I have made for my education! I highly recommend this college.
