Question:
How hard is it to get into NYU’s dental school?
Answer:
Dental school admissions are extremely competitive, and New York University’s (NYU) dental program typically receives 3,400 applications annually, and admits approximately 375 students per year.
NYU states that those admitted to NYU’s dental program have a mean total GPA of 3.5, and a mean science GPA of 3.4. NYU reports that students admitted to NYU’s dental program have a mean Dental Admissions Test (DAT) score for the Academic Average, Total Science, and Reading Comprehension sections of 21, and a mean score of 20 for the Perceptual Ability section. NYU requires applicants for admission to their dental program to have a minimum of 100 hours of shadowing a dentist, either one committee letter of evaluation, or three individual letters of evaluation, two of which must be from science faculty members, and completion of all science prerequisites with a minimum of a “C” or better within the previous ten years. NYU has more detailed information on admissions requirements on their website.
