The PKU-Sciences Po Dual Masterโs Degree is a collaborative program on general international studies and is multidisciplinary by nature, which covers international relations, international political economy, and emerging subjects like energy and environmental studies. It emphasizes multi-cultural perspectives on global security and developmental issues and provides a unique opportunity for students to study international affairs in Paris and in Beijing.
An Overview of the PKU-Sciences Po Program
The PKU-Sciences Po dual degree is a two-year full-time academic program. Students spend their first year at Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA), Sciences Po, where they can choose from the 7 specialised programs in international affairs. In the second year, students will study at the School of International Studies (SIS), Peking University for the degree of Master of International Relations, whose focus is on security and development issues and a regional focus on China and the Asia-Pacific region.
Students remain enrolled in both institutions for both years; they will therefore benefit from all services for the students (free access to library, student unions, career servicesโฆ).
Year 1 at Sciences Po
During the first year of the dual degree, students will join the Paris School of International Affairs at Sciences Po (PSIA).
Students joining PSIA may choose one of the following masterโs programs during the first year of the dual degree:
i. Master in International Security
ii. Master in International Public Management
iii. Master in International Economic Policy
iv. Master in Environmental Policy
v. Master in International Development
vi. Master in Human Rights and Humanitarian Action
vii. Master in International Energy
Dual degree students have to complete the required courses related to their chosen Master at PSIA. In addition, dual degree students must take at least one course on China during their first year at PSIA. Dual degree students are required to take one language class at Sciences Po per semester.

Year 2 at Peking University
During the second year of the dual degree, students will join the School of International Studies at Peking University (SIS-PKU), majoring in International Relations.
At Peking University the students are required to write a thesis. According to Peking Universityโs requirement, the students should submit a thesis and attend oral defense for the thesis by the end of Semester 4.
At Peking University, international students are required to take Chinese language.
Final graduation will rely on the studentโs qualified performance in both years of the programme. Therefore, students will get a temporary graduation in July of the first year at Sciences Po, while the final graduation is upon the completion of all required studies at Peking University in the second year.

i. 20 total credits are required for international students and 21 total credits are required for Chinese students respectively.
ii. Total credits are composed of 12 credits of core courses, 2 credits of language course and 6 credits of elective courses for international students; and of 12 credits of core courses and 9 credits of elective courses for Chinese students (at least 6 credits for English elective courses).
Course offering of 2020-2021 at Peking University will be available in May, 2020 and subject to change.

1. Applicants from Mainland China must either have the recommendation eligibility to the SIS or pass the National Entrance Examination for Postgraduate students in China.

3.International applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport. Residents of mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao or Taiwan who have emigrated to other countries and are applying to Peking University as international students must present valid passport or citizenship documents dating from before November 30, 2013, along with proof of cancellation of Chinese nationality.

1) Applicants from Mainland China need to choose the major International Relations (ๅฝ้ ๅ ณ็ณป) with the direction of Contemporary International Relations (ๅฝไปฃๅฝ้ ๅ ณ็ณปๆนๅ)and indicate this program(ๅๅคง-ๅทดๆฟๅ็กๅฃซ้กน็ฎ) specifically in both online and hard copy versions of the application materials, as well as on the cover of the application materials package posted to the designated admissions office.
2) Applicants from Hong Kong, Macao, or Taiwan also need to apply online through PKUโs website via https://admission.pku.edu.cn/applications/ย before 12๏ผ00 noon, December 6, 2019 (Beijing Time). For PKU online application, applicants need to indicate applying to this program (ๅๅคง-ๅทดๆฟๅ็กๅฃซ้กน็ฎ) in Chinese on both online and hard copy of application materials, as well as on the cover of application materials posted to designated office.
Applicants from Hong Kong, Macao, or Taiwan, could only be admitted into this program with successful completion of the PKU Online Application as well as submitting required hard copy of materials before the deadline.
Applicants who hold both foreign passports and identity cards from Hong Kong, Macao, or Taiwan should apply with the identity of Hong Kong, Macao, or Taiwan and complete other administration procedures with the same identity including visa application and PKU registration.
3)For international applicants, upon accepting the joint offer sent from Sciences Po on behalf of both institutions, are required to complete a PKU Online Pre-registration step. To complete the PKU Pre-registration, applicants with offers need to visit http://www.studyatpku.com/, and complete the Pre-registration with successful payment of an un-refundable PKU Pre-registration fee of RMB 400 yuan by March 31, 2020. And then, both hard and soft copies of the completed PKU Pre-registration form and portrait photo are required to be sent to SIS.

Notice๏ผTOEFL or IELTS should be taken after Sep. 1st , 2018. A student is exempt from English requirement if his/her first language is English or he/she has earned a bachelor/master/Phd degree after Sep. 1st 2015 from an institution at which English was the sole language of instruction.
Review
All applications will be reviewed by the joint committee from both Peking University and Sciences Po.
For applicants from Mainland China, upon meeting the eligibility of applying for this program, will be required to take an interview arranged by the joint committee from both Sciences Po and Peking University. Students applying through recommendations are also required to take the written test arranged by the SIS, PKU.
For international applicants and applicants from Hong Kong, Macao, or Taiwan, interviews (via phone or skype) will be arranged when necessary.
Admission
Joint admission notification will be sent by Sciences Po on behalf of both institutions by mid-March, 2020. Upon successful completion of the first year at Sciences Po, an official PKU admission letter and visa form (for international students) will be sent from Peking University by July of 2021.
Tuition Fee and Funding

According to the agreement by Sciences Po and Peking University, Sciences Po will provide ONE scholarship for students from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan based on the application materials to the dual degree program, while Peking University will provide ONE scholarship, approximately USD 10,000 to international students based on year one performance of the dual degree at PSIA, Sciences Po.
During the year one study at Sciences Po, international students can also apply for the Chinese Government Scholarship for year two. Information is provided by the Chinese Scholarship Council (http://www.csc.edu.cn ) and the Chinese Embassy of the studentโs country of origin. The CGS will provide the awardees with a monthly living stipend and assistance with accommodation arrangement. The PKU tuition fee will be partly covered by the CGS (students are expected to make up for the difference by other means).

Degree Conferral
Upon successful completion of studies at both institutions, students will be conferred Master Degree of Law and Master Degree of International Affairs by PKU and Sciences Po respectively.

After graduation, students from the program have been employed in a wide variety of international organizations (such as International Energy Agency), government agencies (i.e. Chinese/French Ministry of Foreign Affairs), financial companies (i.e. China Development Bank, The Export-Import Bank of China), consulting firms (i.e. Capgemini Consulting, Bain & Company), NGOs (i.e. China ASEAN Environmental Cooperation Center), universities and research institutions( Wuhan University, in China), the media sector and think tanks. Some students continued to pursue their doctoral degree.

A High Standard Collaboration
The Sciences Po-PKU Dual Masterโs Degree is a collaborative program on general international studies and is multidisciplinary by nature, covering political science, international political economy, and emerging subjects like energy and environment in international studies. It emphasizes multicultural perspectives on global security and developmental issues and provides a unique opportunity for students to study international affairs at Paris in Europe and Beijing in Asia.
The training stresses the links between public and private decision making on one side and their multiple determinants on the other side : (i) state of scientific and technical knowledge that govern evaluation processes, (ii) representations of social issues and positioning of the civil society, (iii) economic and legal tools for governance practices.

During the first year of the Dual Degree, students may join one of the seven Master’s programs offered by the Paris School of International Affairs
Dual degree students have to complete the required courses related to their chosen Master at PSIA. In addition, during their first year at PSIA, dual degree students are encouraged to take one course within the concentration โAsian Studiesโ (unless they have already opted for such concentration).
Year 2 at Peking University
During the second year of the dual degree, students join the School of International Studies at Peking University (SIS-PKU).
At Peking University the students will write a thesis.
According to Peking Universityโs requirement, the students should submit a dissertation and perform oral defense of the dissertation by the end of Semester 4.
At Peking University, while Chinese students will take French language classes, international students will take Chinese language classes.
Final graduation will rely on the validation by the student of both years of the programme. Therefore, students will get a temporary graduation in July at Sciences Po, while the final graduation is upon the completion of all required studies at Peking University in the second year.
Admissions
Application
All Candidates to the dual degree apply through Sciences Poโs website, regardless of nationality.
This application is specific to the dual degree program and is not transferable to other programs at either institution. Students who wish to be considered for admission to other Sciences Po or PKU programs must fulfil all relevant application requirements for those programs.
Documents submitted for the application should be in English or accompanied by a translation. Also the referee form and the personal statement are to be completed in English.
Applicants do not have to be already enrolled at Sciences Po or PKU to apply to the dual degree.
