Business Analytics play a critical role in preparing organisations to meet and resolve the issues and challenges faced in these volatile, uncertain and complex times. On this online course you will master the analytic tools, models and methods that can assist organisations in growing revenue, improving efficiency, deal with change and reduce disruption. We will show you how to employ the three key methodologies of business analytics:

Work placements
The MSc Business Analytics (Online) provides opportunities to carry out work placements and internship projects with a range of different companies and organisations. Typically these are in the second part of the academic year where we use our partnerships with organisations like Datalab to provide workplace projects on live business analytics issues being experienced by industry companiesโ face. Stirling Management School has its own dedicated employability manager who works closely with all our postgraduate courses to provide work place opportunities. The School also has a specific work placement platform called Riipen which can connect Business Analytics students to a range of organisations across the world. The Riipen platform is an invaluable resource that is focused on providing students with industry projects which will equip them with relevant work-ready skills and enhance their employability. Additionally, all students will be able to access to the University of Stirlingโs award winning Careers and Employability Service who can also provide a range of services related to work placements and employability.
Faculty facilities
Stirling Management School has a range of facilities that can be accessed by Business Analytics students. Whilst the students on this course will typically be off campus they will have access to the virtual learning education platform Canvas and will be provided with Office 365 and all of the software needed for their modules (e.g. Python, Orange Data-Mining, Microsoft BI, and R). The online portal will provide virtual access to the library, careers and a range of other services that will ensure students have a first class experience. This allows our students to connect with their peers and academic staff, and participate in the Universityโs online community.
If you can visit the Stirling campus you will have the same access and facilities as the full-time students who enjoy our, the computer labs, library, theatre, restaurants, sports facilities and more. Each student is assigned a personal tutor who will be able to assist you throughout your time at Stirling.

Academic requirements
Youโll need a minimum of a second class Honours degree in any subject, or an equivalent qualification. However, you can still apply if you donโt have these formal qualifications, but bring significant work experience in a relevant area.

Course Details
The course consists of four semesters of two taught modules per semester (four modules per year) plus one semester where you will be carrying out a consultancy project. Each semester has a 10 credit and 20 credit module. To be awarded the MSc you have to pass all the modules and the consultancy project.

Teaching
Teaching is carried out a through a mix of real time and recorded lectures, tutorials, case studies, role play, computer simulations, fieldwork exercises, guest speakers and opportunities for company projects.
Assessment
Your work will be assessed over the course of your study in a variety of ways including:

The Masters degree is awarded on satisfactory completion of the eight taught modules and the extended piece of work undertaken in the final semester which can be a work-based consultancy projector a research-based academic dissertation.
Classroom hours
Online provision which consists of both live classes and material hosted online will equate to between 30 and 36 hours per module. We expect that each subject requires students to carry out self-directed learning of approximately 8 hours per week โ please note this is just a guide and very much depends on the individual.

This course is only offered on a part-time basis. The total course fee will be split over the years that you study. The total fee will remain the same and will be held at the rate it was set in your year of entry.

Imperial College London – MSc Business Analytics
Our MSc in Business Analytics enables recent graduates and early career professionals to understand the content, importance and relevance of big data problems facing businesses and will be familiar with a variety of statistical, operation research and machine learning techniques needed to solve them.
Combining academic rigour and practical relevance, you will learn from experts in our leading faculty how to apply the latest academic thinking and analytical and computing tools to help make business decisions.
There is a careful balance of teaching, hands-on coursework and training in data analysis and business intelligence tools, plus regular seminars by expert external speakers.
Imperial is recognised as a world leader in the study and analysis of data, and the Business School is home to the KPMG Centre for Advanced Business Analytics.
Study programme
Before starting the programme, you complete a number of online pre-study modules, to give you the introductory knowledge of areas that will be covered throughout the programme.
You then develop your analytical skills and business knowledge and study a number of core and elective modules over the three academic terms. The choice of elective modules allows you to customise the programme to meet your personal career ambitions.
Over the summer, you will undertake either a Consulting Project, Work Placement or Individual Research Project, before completing your studies with the Business Analytics Report.
Streams
You have the choice of the two streams listed below.
- MSc Business Analytics (on-campus, full-time) A demanding full-time course taught over one calendar year at our South Kensington campus. You have the option of completing a Capstone Project which includes a substantial group-based consulting project undertaken for a real client.
- MSc Business Analytics (online delivery, part-time) A part-time course with a curriculum modelled on the full-time stream. This 22 months part-time degree is delivered via our unique interactive online learning platform.
Students of both streams will graduate with the award of MSc Business Analytics.

Minimum academic requirement
Our minimum requirement is a 2.1 degree in a quantitative subject.
You are also required to have a well-researched career plan with clear short and long term goals.

Making an application

All applicants must apply online.

If you are applying to the Business School, you may only be considered for one programme per admissions cycle, with the exception of applicants to our Finance Master’s programmes, who may select two programmes.
Application fee
If you are applying for a taught Masterโs course, you will need to pay an application fee before submitting your application.
The fee applies per application and not per course:
- ยฃ80 for taught Master’s applications (excluding MBAs)
- ยฃ135 for MBA applications
There is no application fee for MRes courses, Postgraduate Certificates, Postgraduate Diplomas or research courses, such as PhDs and EngDs.
If you are facing financial hardship and are unable to pay the application fee, we encourage you to apply for our application fee waiver.
ATAS certificate
An ATAS certificate is not required for overseas students applying for this course.

For the part-time, online stream, the tuition fees are split equally between the two years of the programme.
Postgraduate Master’s loan
If you’re a UK national, or EU national with settled or pre-settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme, you may be able to apply for a Postgraduate Masterโs Loan from the UK government, if you meet certain criteria.
For 2021-22 entry, the maximum amount is ยฃ11,570. The loan is not means-tested and you can choose whether to put it towards your tuition fees or living costs.
