MACON โ€“ Mercer University School of Medicine is one of the best family medicine medical schools in the nation, according to the annual โ€œBest Graduate Schoolsโ€ rankings released April 1 by U.S.News & World Report. The School of Medicine is the only medical school in Georgia to be recognized in this category.

In the new category of Family Medicine in U.S. News & World Reportโ€™s graduate rankings, Mercer School of Medicine ranked 17th among the nationโ€™s 126 accredited medical schools.

โ€œFamily medicine is the cornerstone of the School of Medicineโ€™s mission to serve the health care needs of Georgiaโ€™s citizens,โ€ said Dean Ann C. Jobe. โ€œIt is nice to have the quality of our academic program recognized as being among the very best in the nation.โ€

In determining its overall national rankings, U.S.News & World Report considers several quality indicators, including reputation as determined by surveys of medical school deans and senior faculty; amount of research funding from the National Institutes of Health; primary care rate; student selectivity; and faculty/student ratios.
