Anderson Serangoon Junior College (ASRJC) is a junior college located in Yio Chu Kang, Singapore, opposite Yio Chu Kang MRT station, offering two-year pre-university courses leading to the Singapore-Cambridge GCE Advanced Level examinations. ASRJC has been affirmed as one of the leading junior colleges in Singapore for value-added academic performances.
Anderson Serangoon Junior College houses the Elementz Laboratory, the MOE North Zone Centre of Excellence for Science, and Makers Lab. The college hosts the annual Elementz International Science Research Conference and Exhibition, an event that accords recognition to students from secondary school (upper secondary levels) and Junior Colleges who have conducted scientific research to showcase their findings.
Anderson Serangoon Junior College History
Anderson Serangoon Junior College was formed after the merger of Anderson Junior College (AJC) and Serangoon Junior College (SRJC) and received its first batch of students in 2019. The mergers are based on geographical proximity so as to maintain a good spread of schools across the country, MOE said, adding that the sites for the merged schools were chosen based on accessibility to transport and quality of infrastructure.
The Anderson Junior College Hostel was planned and construction commenced in 2009. The hostel was opened in 2012, but was permanently closed from 2019 as MOE announced that demand for boarding places continue to fall and there are fewer international students in schools in Singapore.
Merger
On 20 April 2017, it was announced that Anderson Junior College would merge with Serangoon Junior College, with the merged school located at the current site of Anderson Junior College. The merged school was named as Anderson Serangoon Junior College, which is a combination of the two schools’ names, from 2019. The former SRJC principal, Mr Manogaran Suppiah proceeded to be the founding principal.

The Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE) is conducted annually by the Ministry of Education (MOE) to allow Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level certificate holders to apply for admission to courses offered by the JCs /CI / Polytechnics / ITEs.
The following groups of students (not on Direct School Admission) are eligible to apply:
- All Singapore Citizens (SC) or Permanent Residents (SPR) with valid Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level Examinations results from any year.
- International students studying in a Government School, Government-Aided School or Independent School in Singapore with valid Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level Examination results of the preceding year.
Applicants may apply for the Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE) registration via the JAE Internet System (JAE-IS) within 5 calendar days after the release of the Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level Examination results.

Bonus Points Computation

Students can enjoy up to a maximum of 4 bonus points. However, a minimum raw score of L1R5 20 points is necessary to qualify for bonus points.
Post-JAE Appeal Procedure
The Appeals period starts after the JAE posting results are released and ends on 03 February 2021.
Only students with net L1R5 equal or less than ASRJC cut-off points can be considered for appeals. All appeals application must be completed online. The online application form can be accessed here (https://portal.asrjc.edu.sg/appeal). The online application form will close on 2 February 2021, 10.00 am.
Only shortlisted candidates will be called up for an interview.
All shortlisted candidates will be notified by 5pm on 03 February 2021. Shortlisted candidates are to bring along the original and a duplicate copy of the:

Applicants will be shortlisted based on evidence of the following aspects, as gathered from the applicant’s submission of supporting documents:
- Track record, experience and commitment to the talent area.
- Positive character traits such as discipline, resilience and commitment.
- Achievements, qualifications and certifications in talent areas.
Selection Interviews via Video Conference
Shortlisted applicants from the trials will be required to attend an online interview to enable the College to better understand the:
- Applicant’s interest/ passion for the specific talent area;
- Applicant’s experiences (if any) in nurturing the specific talent area (e.g through school CCA, sport academies/ clubs or private coaching);
- Applicant’s motivation for joining ASRJC;
- Applicant’s ability to cope with JC curriculum.
