The University of Auckland (Waipapa Taumata Rau) is New Zealandโ€™s largest and leading university, with a student population of 44,000. This includes 8,000 international students representing over 120 countries.

We have formal agreements with over 300 universities and are the only New Zealand member of Universitas 21, the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN) and the Association of Pacific Rim Universities.

The University is located in the harbour city of Auckland, New Zealandโ€™s economic hub and most diverse city, with easy access to stunning beaches and rainforests. University of Auckland Courses

  • Programs at University of Auckland are offered in over in over 420 subject areas across nine faculties, which includes 200+ undergraduate courses, 130+ postgraduate programs, and PhD in 100 subjects. 
  • โ€˜360 International exchange programโ€™ at the university is a collaboration of around 128 universities from 27 countries to offer students study-abroad opportunities and gain international exposure.
  • University of Auckland also introduced a few new degrees-  the Bachelor of Design, Master of Nursing Science, and Bachelor of Education (TESOL).
  • Interestingly, the students can pursue 2 undergraduate courses simultaneously by choosing โ€˜conjoint programsโ€™. The most popular majors offered by the university include Arts, Engineering, Law, Science, and other allied courses.

University of Auckland Campus

Spread over an area of 16 hectares, University of Auckland offers programs through seven campuses at different locations. All the campuses are well equipped with essential amenities offering students a great learning experience.

  • City Campus: Located in the centre of Auckland, it offers amenities such as cafes, health services, libraries, childcare facilities and a recreation centre.
  • Newmarket Campus: Situated close to the primary business area of Newmarket, it houses the faculties of Engineering and Science and may extend further in the future.
  • Epsom Campus: It primarily comprises of the Faculty of Education and Social Work offering foundation, UG and graduate programs for nearly 3500 students.
  • Grafton Campus: It is home to the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, the Philson Library and many clinics of the university.
  • Tai Tokerau Campus: It houses over 200 students and offers different types of foundation courses including New Start and the Tertiary Foundation Certificate.
  • Leigh Marine Laboratory: Leigh Marine Laboratory, the โ€˜marine campusโ€™ of the University of Auckland, offers research facilities to PG teaching and research at the Goat Island Marine Reserve.
  • South Auckland Campus:ย This campus offers Bachelor of Education (Teaching) with a specialization in primary teaching and also certificate and foundation courses in education and teaching.

Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministry for Tertiary Education, Skills and Employment, New Zealand, University of Auckland is a very large coeducational higher education institution. University of Auckland offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study.

This higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations. International students are welcome to apply for enrollment. University of Auckland also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, sport facilities and/or activities, study abroad and exchange programs, as well as administrative services.

The University provides a range of accommodation options for students. Several hundred live in Residential Halls and Apartments, which provide, respectively, food, accommodation, social and welfare services, alongside self-catered, private residences.

The University of Auckland is the only New Zealand university invited to become a member of Universitas 21, an international network of 20 research intensive universities that cooperate towards high educational quality and international visibility.

The Auckland University Students’ Association (AUSA) represents students at the University. AUSA publicises student issues, administers student facilities, and assists affiliated student clubs and societies. AUSA also produces the student magazine Craccum and runs the radio station bFM. The name of the alumni association is the University of Auckland Society.
