Description
The MSc programme in Computer Science and Engineering focuses on the design and use of computing componentsโboth software and hardwareโto solve technical problems efficiently and competitively.
Modern society infrastructure is based on information technology. IT plays an essential role in our daily lives, and businesses are dependent on computers and communications equipment.
DTU has a strong and growing IT environment with competencies in areas such as safe and secure systems, system integration, distributed and embedded systems, networks, software engineering, algorithms and logic, system-on-chip, and digital systems. As a student on the programme, you will form part of this exciting environment.
Study programme focus
The Computer Science and Engineering programme is concentrated on the design and use of computing componentsโboth software and hardwareโto ensure our students become capable of solving technical problems efficiently and competitively.
Focus is on understanding and using the right abstractions for advanced IT solutions which typically include both existing and future components. Computer Science and Engineering thus covers a wide range of courses in software development, safe and secure IT systems, algorithms and logic, and knowledge-based systems, and distributed and embedded systems.
Combine work with studies
This study programme is also available as an Industry study programme where you can combine work and study over a 4-year period. Special rules apply.
Industry MSc Eng programmes
Specializations
You can choose to specialize in one of the six study lines:
Artificial Intelligence and Algorithms
Computer Security
Digital Systems
Embedded and Distributed Systems
Safe and Secure by Design
Software Engineering
You should be aware, however, that your choice of courses in your individual study plan offers a high degree of flexibility, and it is not mandatory to follow a study line. Therefore, you have every opportunity to design your own study programme and career by choosing from the wide range of courses offered at DTU.

Technical University Of Denmark World Ranking
Rankings
Technical University of Denmark (DTU) was founded in 1829 by the father of electromagnetism, H. C. รrsted, whose vision was to create a polytechnical institution that would benefit society through natural and technical sciences. This vision has since established DTU as an internationally renowned institution among the top technical universities in Europe and the world when it comes to collaborating business and industry.
Technical University of Denmark educates engineers from bachelorโs, to masterโs all the way through to PhD level, specializing in engineering and science. All teaching, supervision, and course development at the university is carried out by more than 2,000 professors and lecturers who are themselves active researchers.
University rankings have become an important parameter in the global competition between universities to attract the most talented researchers and students. However, rankings should be used with caution.
There is a long list of different rankings โ each employing its own methodology and evaluative parameters. Below is an overview of DTUโs current standing in various rankings.
