The present and the future are digital
There is an extreme shortage of computer scientists to find solutions to digital challenges, such as optimizing IT security, designing and managing databases, developing artificial intelligence and comprehensive IT systems. Plus all the challenges we don’t even know about yet.

Computer science is an education for you who are good at logical thinking. You are interested in immersing yourself in complicated issues and in devising innovative and creative solutions. At the same time, you like to create structure and work with systematics. It is not a prerequisite that you can program when you start the education.

Computer science is broad and covers areas such as programming, algorithms and data structures, computability, artificial intelligence, operating systems, optimization problems, web search, bioinformatics, databases and game programming.

At SDU, you get a computer science education at the highest level. The education focuses on understanding, analysis and thought work, which provides knowledge with great applicability and durability. You learn to develop programs that solve real-world tasks.

That is why you should study Computer Science in Odense
Computer science at SDU Odense is characterized by containing all the relevant branches of the subject. It gives you a broad generalist knowledge and at the same time the opportunity to choose your own specialty through the education.

When you study Computer Science at SDU Odense, you are close to Northern Europe’s largest cluster of IT and robot companies. It is therefore relatively easy to get a relevant student job. At the same time, it gives you good job opportunities when you finish your education.

Your lecturers at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science are highly available with help and guidance for your assignments and projects.

Meet two computer science students from SDU, and hear why they have chosen the program:

It all starts with a small question that holds great potential: What is your interest? The choice of study is the starting point for your adult life and helps to define how you can make a difference in the world.

At the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science (IMADA), you can follow programs within the fields of mathematics and computer science.

Our educations have a strong focus on combining practical knowhow with a scientific understanding and skillset.

This is also the reason why you won’t find many of our graduates who has difficulty getting a job – there is a great demand for the very competencies we equip our students with – both within business and in research environments.

Below you find an overview of the different programs we offer in English. We also have a pallet of BA programs and traditional master’s degree programs, which we offer primarily in Danish. To see these, visit our Danish site.

You are always welcome to contact our outreach coordinator Peter Bækgaard Madsen at pbm@sdu.dk and tel. 65 50 96 98, or the study counselors at the Faculty of Science. They are ready to advise you and help clarify which program will be the right one for you.

Exchange
A tuition fee-paying full degree student going on an exchange stay arranged by SDU will still pay the tuition fee to SDU. A tuition fee-paying full degree student going on a self-arranged exchange stay and afterwards getting the obtained credits transferred, will not pay the tuition fee for the ECTS-credits obtained abroad.
