Canadian Society for Civil Engineering Awards McMaster Provost Susan Tighe

Canadaโ€™s top civil engineering award in transportation is coming to McMaster. Provost and vice-president (Academic) Susan Tighe was presented with the Sandford Fleming Award on May 27 at the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE) 2022 Annual Conference in Whistler, B.C.

The award recognizes career achievements in civil engineering education and research, as well as a record of service and innovation, said society president Brenda McCabe.

โ€œThe Sandford Fleming is our most significant award in the area of transportation,โ€ McCabe said. โ€œIโ€™m delighted that Dr. Tighe is this yearโ€™s recipient of the award. Her contributions to both transportation engineering research and practice are extraordinary and impactful. My heartfelt congratulations!โ€

The award reflects Tigheโ€™s achievements, which span almost three decades. They include leading the development of the 2013 Pavement Asset Design and Management Guide for the Transportation Association of Canada and authoring more than 400 papers on topics ranging from intelligent transportation systems to pavement design techniques and design criteria for road surfaces
