GHANA TECHNOLOGY UNIVERSITY COLLEGE

Ghana Technology University College, formerly Ghana Telecom University College is a university that started in 2005. The national telecommunications company, Ghana Telecom founded the prestigious university.

They provide bachelor’s degrees and graduate programs, particularly in Telecommunications Engineering, Information and Communications Technologies.

It also offers certificate programs, with courses that provide credit for the bachelor’s degree, and other professional development seminars and workshops.

GTUC’s main campus is in the Tesano section of Accra, Republic of Ghana. A second campus has been opened in nearby Abeka, a nearby Accra suburb, and a satellite campus at Nungua.

In addition to those, there are satellite campuses in Kumasi, Takoradi, Koforidua & Ho.

ASHESI UNIVERSITY

Ashesi University is a private, non-profit liberal arts college located in Ghana, West Africa. It offers a four-year bachelor’s program grounded in a liberal core curriculum, featuring majors in Business. It started in 2002.

Ashesi is also the best University that trains a student for industrialization with one of the best campuses in Ghana.

Ashesi offers various courses that make them the Second best Information Technology University in Ghana after  Ghana Technology University College.

Tuition Fees: For the 2022/2023academic year, tuition fees are $3,758 per semester, which also covers textbooks. 

PRESBYTERIAN UNIVERSITY COLLEGE

The Presbyterian University College, Ghana is a partially private & public university located at Abetifi-Kwahu in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

It is one of the new universities in Ghana granted accreditation by the National Accreditation Board. 

The Presbyterian Church of Ghana started Presbyterian University College on 23 November 2003, and it was inaugurated on 27 March 2004 by the president of Ghana, John Agyekum Kufuor.

It is among the best private university in Ghana and third best after the University of Ghana and KNUST by world university ranking website webometrics

VALLEY VIEW UNIVERSITY

The Valley View University is a private university located in Oyibi, Accra in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. It forms part of a worldwide system of over 100 tertiary institutions operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

The university began as the Adventist Missionary College and was located in Bekwai-Ashanti. It was transferred to Adentan near Accra in 1983 where it operated in rented facilities.

In 1989, it was relocated to its present site near Oyibi (19 miles down Accra-Dodowa Road). and was renamed Valley View College.

The National Accreditation Board (Ghana) granted it national accreditation in 1995 thus allowing the university to award her own degrees. Thus, Valley View University became the first private institution in Ghana to be granted national accreditation.

WISCONSIN INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY COLLEGE GHANA

Wisconsin International University College is one of the earliest established private universities in Ghana. It is located at Agbogba Junction near Kwabenya in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana.

It started in January 2000 and is accredited by the National Accreditation Board as a university college and affiliated to the University of Ghana, University of Cape Coast, and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

ACCRA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

The Accra Institute of Technology is an independent technology-focused research university in Accra, Ghana. The university comprises six schools and three institutes. 

AIT is accredited by the National Accreditation Board (Ghana), of the Ministry of Education in Ghana to offer campus-based and open university programs in various fields.

The programs on campus are at the undergraduate level in engineering, computer science, information technology, and business administration.

Affiliated with  Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Open University Malaysia.

METHODIST UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF GHANA

The Methodist University College Ghana is a private university in Ghana. It is located at Accra in the Greater Accra Region.

It was established in October 2000 by the Methodist Church Ghana after being granted accreditation by the National Accreditation Board in August 2000.

Academic work started in November 2000 at the Wesley Grammar School campus. The university has five faculties made up of departments that report to their respective deans.

CENTRAL UNIVERSITY

The International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) in Accra, Ghana, founded the Central University. It started off as a pastoral training institute in Dansoman in 1988 and later became the Central Bible College by June 1991.

In 1993, it was the Central Christian College and eventually became the Central University College in 1997.

Among the stated aims of the university is to provide an “integrated and biblically-based tertiary education with particular reference to the needs of the African continent”.

It is currently the biggest private university in Ghana.

Central University College 2022/2023 Fees schedule are to be settled by the student before registration of the academic year.

The fees are for the whole academic year but students can be allowed to register after paying a percentage of the fees. The remaining fees must be paid before the beginning of the second semester.

This 44 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and student’s past academic records and grades.

Founded in 1974, Christian Service University College is a non-profit private higher education institution located in the urban setting of the village of Santasi-Kumasi.

Christian Service University College (CSUC) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees in several areas of study.

CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF GHANA

Numerous distinguished Catholic Universities have been established all across the world by the Catholic Church, inclusive is the Catholic University College of Ghana. The university is among the very dignified private universities.

Over the years the Catholic University of Ghana has moved to gain a higher reputation nationally as well as international recognition.

The university is located in Ghana specifically at Fiapre, Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region.

It was granted accreditation by the National Accreditation Board on 4 December 2002. The first batch of students started on 3 March 2003. The formal inauguration of the university was on 13 November 2003.

• The School of Business and Leadership (SBL)
• The Faculty of Arts and Sciences
• The Faculty of Informatics, Engineering and Allied Sciences (FECAS)

As at the time this article was written, the school fee paid by students in Regent university of Science and Technology is GHC 790.00. No doubt, this is actually very cheap. As I said, if you want to study any course-related Sciences, then this university should be your first choice.

Year of establishment: 2003

Location: Sowutuom, Greater Accra Region, Ghana

There is probably nobody in Ghana who doesn’t know about the prestigious Pentecost University College. It is one of the most popular and respected universities in Ghana. Over the years, the university has produced hundreds to graduate from different fields of study.

Pentecost University College is a private university owned by one of the biggest churches in Ghana. This is probably why the university is very cheap.

Location: Accra North, Ghana

If you are searching for a church-based institution in Ghana, then search no further because you have found the best. One of the reasons why I love universities like this is because their tuition fee is usually very low.

For example, about 3 (three) institutions I have already mentioned in this article already are church-based institutions.

This is to tell you that church-based private institutions are the ideal institutions for students who don’t have enough money to attend some of the top universities in Ghana.

Catholic Institute of Business and Technology is obviously one of the cheapest universities in Ghana. In the university, Ghanaian pay GH¢ 1,540.00 as school fees while foreign students pay US$ 1,087.50.

The University offers many courses. However, you are advised to check the list of courses offered in the university before you finally apply.

8. Kings university Ghana (KUS) – $2,000

Year of establishment: 2009

Location: Ghana

Kings’ university Ghana is undoubtedly one of the best universities in Ghana. It is the most sought university in the country this 2019.

Basically, I think the reason why most students are dreaming of gaining admission into this university is because of the quality and good learning environment this university has.

It is institutionally affiliated to the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, and in collaboration with the Liaoning University, China. KUC was established in February 2009 and was accredited by the National Accreditation Board (NAB) of Ghana in January 2010.

Take, for instance, Ghana Sat-1 (Ghana’s first satellite in space was launched from the International Space Station) was tested first, by three students of this university.
