How much is the tuition fee? At the University of Helsinki, the tuition fee isย 13, 000, 15 000 or 18 000 euros per academic year, depending on the academic field of the degree programme.

The international masterโs programmes at the University of Helsinki have only one application round per year. Please note that the application form is functional only during the application period.

Make sure you are eligible
To be able to apply to a masterโs programme, you must have completed a first-cycle (bachelorโs) degree.
If you will only complete your first-cycle degree after the application period ends, you can still apply to a masterโs programme, provided that you fulfil all other requirements.
Please note that each masterโs programme has individual criteria on what studies you must have completed previously. Your degree need not necessarily be from the field of your prospective master’s programme, but you must have completed a sufficient amount of university studies in the field of the programme.

Prepare the required attachments
When applying to a masterโs programme, you have to submit the required documents precisely as instructed. Deviating from the instructions will result in rejection.
- If you have completed your previous degree in a country listed on theย country-specific requirementsย page, you must comply with the relevant requirements when submitting attachments.
In other cases, please comply with theย general instructions on submitting attachments.
If the documents describing your education are in a language other than English, Finnish or Swedish, you must submit authorised translations of these.
Make sure that all of the education documents you submit areย officially certifiedย and that they areย submitted correctly.
Please note that completing a language test, if necessary, obtaining education documents, and having them officially certified takes time. For this reason, we recommend that you start preparing these matters well before the application period begins.Required application enclosures

Apply during the application period
All applications for international master’s programmes must be submitted in the electronic application system by the end of the application period.
When the application period opens on 1 Decemberย 2020ย at 8.00 Finnish time, look for your degree programme in theย Studyinfoย service. Clickย APPLYย ย on the relevant degree programme page, complete the application form and submit all required attachments as instructed.
Submit the required attachments as soon as possible to allow time for supplementing them, should the documents have deficiencies.ย Attachments can be submitted until 29 Januaryย 2021. Attachments received after that date will not be processed.ย

After submitting your application
After you have submitted your application and the required attachments, the application is processed as follows:

Admission Services checks that your application and its attachments meet the predetermined minimum requirements.ย - Academic assessment
If your application meets the predetermined minimum requirements, Admission Services will send it for assessment by the relevant degree programme. - Admission results
Admission results will be published by 16 April 2021.
