The Department of Animal Science and Veterinary Technology offers A Bachelor of Science in Animal Science with six Concentrations: Science (traditional Animal Science); Animal Production; Animal Industries; Pre-Veterinary Medicine Concentration; Food, Nutrition and Meat Applications; and Range Management. The Bachelor of Science in Animal Science provides a strong basic foundation in animal science courses and places emphasis on courses based on the student’s concentration choice. The program provides many hands-on learning opportunities to further develop the student’s knowledge. Vista College’s Veterinary Technology program gives students the opportunity to become veterinary technicians and receive an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) Degree. A veterinary technician primarily functions as a professional technical support to veterinarians, biomedical researchers and other scientists. Vista College currently has a student chapter of the National Association of Veterinary Technicians of America (NAVTA) and holds many bake sales and dog food drives to support the local humane societies, shelters and rescue groups.
