Trinity SchoolPrivate School New York, NY K-12 Rating 3.97 out of 5 67 reviews#1 Best Private High Schools in New York City AreaJunior: An excellent education, especially with the upper school. Hands-on teachers, willing to help with anything. Great student body, and lots of wonderful extracurriculars. Facilities are top-notch, lots of space and natural light. Good performing arts program, as well as visual arts. Humanity classes are some of the best in the country. The only issue I have is with the math curriculum and how they use Problem-Based learning. Excellent and approachable college counselors. It is not a surprise that this is one of the best schools in the country.

The vision, execution, and evolution of the model is spot on. Ask any student, parent, faculty, college admissions counselor, and Dean at any University and you will get the real story. It’s not perfect but the school has been able to maintain it’s high level of academics and keep its goal of providing a full scholarship education for future Catholic leaders, authors, scientists, etc.. The sincere approach to help diversify the classroom has been successful. With education costs going out of control, you would think governments and schools are studying how it’s done at Regis.
Get a top notch education without lowering standards or using temp solutions (“shuttling” minorities in or subsidizing over priced tuition with”generous” financial aid packages to fill quotas for chess, academics, sports, and school team competitions). Colleges and employers love Regians!

The school assigned French and Music teachers for my son for the entire year since he didn’t have French or bass instrument before, at the end of the year he didn’t just catch up with the other kids but he also became proficient in both subjects and we couldn’t ask for more. On the other hand, the school environment and the parents are welcoming. As a family of color our experience of the diversity, inclusion, and belongings was excellent and our son fit perfectly at Collegiate.

The administration and the teachers will go above and beyond for your daughter and your family. While it has always been an academic powerhouse, it is also a school that encourages all of it’s students to be creative and unique individuals, while learning to embrace Brearley’s core values of “honesty, kindness, respect, responsibility and courage.” We are lucky to be a part of the Brearley community.

Often success is directly correlated with socio-economic class, and what tier of donor you are. The fact is though, Dalton is almost certainly the least heinous offender of the aforementioned shady business within the private school circle, and the administration is at least attempting to reform itself. So if you are committed to sending your child to an elite/elitist NYC school, Dalton is probably your best option.

I uphold a similar sentiment to everyone else who has acclaim for the institution: for its academic prowess. Nonetheless, I consider Riverdale not only an academically-enriching environment but also one which advances personal character and intellectual independence. Riverdale is not an ordinary, textbook-based, question-and-answer institution. Rather, it fulfills the student’s curiosity by challenging their personal intellectual interests and their personal thinking mechanisms. All students at Riverdale share similar passions yet among them is a thorough diversity of the same. I can affirm to all that Riverdale transformed the manner in which I hypothesize, observe, and deduce regarding academic and real-world subject matter. The student body is ultimately integrated, and all students are bound by a unanimous appreciation for enlightenment and sheer enjoyment for an unparalleled experience.

The administration puts a lot of effort into building a kind community, and I honestly think this is the best you’re going to get in a school. And the teachers are wonderfully capable, intelligent, and empathetic—they’re some of my best friends, insofar as a teacher-student relationship can constitute a friendship.
Still, there are things that could be improved: for one, the institution values athletics far more than the arts, and it shows—the music/theatre facilities are housed in the old gyms, and the visual art classes are all in the school basement; meanwhile, we just poured tons of money into building a glorious new athletic center. And I’m peeved that we only have AP classes for math, science, and foreign language but no AP/advanced classes for English or history—instead, we have collegiate-level English only, which hurts the kids who can’t handle it.
On the whole, though, Hackley is amazing, and I love it!

As a parent, and an educational professional, I personally could not have designed a better experience for my son, especially during the COVID-related shut down. We initially chose Friends for our son because we wanted more for him; we wanted him to learn through experience, to develop thoughts of his own and more importantly to be part of a community that subscribed to similar values as ours. Our son’s first year was FANTASTIC! Notably, while everyone was scrambling to figure things out when the State shut down, our son was being educated and supported in a way that was developmentally appropriate, fun and responsive. The transition to virtual school was so seamless, that it seemed like it was planned for (it might have been). More importantly, the teachers were open and responsive to feedback, and continued to tweak the new modality regularly. We are looking forward to many more years at Friends!

Students are expected to thrive academically, but that’s not to say it’s a hothouse, where only the fittest survive. Support is there for students who need it, for whatever reason that may be. During 10th grade, I had a period of suffering with health issues, which at the time I had receive no diagnosis for. I was well supported by the school, and as a result my grades didn’t suffer. Once I received a diagnosis – thankfully nothing too serious – the school continued to support me, while I received treatment. Without such incredible support from the school, at that time in life, I would not have graduated with a 4.0 GPA!

While the college counselors are notorious for advocating against students applying to “reach” schools, the connections to universities around the country are undeniable and college placement is impressive. With all that said, I wouldn’t send my children here in the future. The curriculum has become increasingly politicized (e.g. European History was removed and replaced by Black Studies) and it seems that the emphasis on diversity and inclusion, while previously much needed, has now come to supersede quality of education in all other respects.

Fourteen floors of chaotically creative people, students, teachers and faculty alike. From the age of six I was taught to constantly question and challenge everything, that play rehearsals were more important than that physics test. I have learned to self motivate without competing with classmates and to treat every essay I write with the respect and eloquence of a novel. I have made puppets, written a twenty-page paper on the history of martial arts, and hypothesized whether sweet flavors are more commonly synesthetically assigned to major chords. Keep in mind that this environment in addition to being incredibly fruitful both creatively and academically, it can be perceived as a rose-colored, six-foot thick bubble, protecting its students from harsh realities beyond its walls. In my last year, I have come to see Saint Ann’s for all of its flaws and strengths. Thank you!

I began attending this school in my freshman year, and I have had an amazing time. The academics are very rigorous, but the environment of the school makes it manageable. All of the teachers are engaging, and they are incredibly willing to meet outside of the classroom. The voice of the students is heard, amplified, and respected here. One of the largest, student driven topics of conversation in my three years here has been diversity. NBS has been working twords increasing this in recent years. Friends of mine attend other all girl schools in the city, and, from what I have seen and heard (from tours during my eighth grade year and through word of mouth), no school balances academic rigor, a strong community, and the ability to take part in extracurricular activities as well as Nigtingale does. It is a heavily underrated school.

FASNY has two streams: the French curriculum and the international curriculum (i.e. for English speakers) which leads to the IB diploma. I have a child in each.
First, the French curriculum (Bac) along with a NY high school degree is for French speakers. The French stream is rigorous, especially in math and sciences. Nothing prevents an English speaking family to integrate the French stream at a young age; but afterwards if there is no knowledge in French this is no longer a possibility. Though it is for students who might want to go back to France, the French Bac is well recognized by universities worldwide.
Second, the international stream is taught in English and eventually leads to a NY high school degree and the rigorous IB (International Baccalaureate). It can be integrated any year as long as the English requirement is met and many teachers teach in both streams. Some have PhDs (e.g. IB Economics).

The faculty are incredible and really want to help their students. I have formed such close friendships with my teachers over the years and I already miss them! The reason why I gave GA 4 stars and not 5 is because the social life at GA is very tough. If you do not fit the Greenwich stereotype, it’s very hard to “fit in” at the school. I will say, however, that it does get easier in high school by a long shot. If you’re looking for a top-tier education and are willing to struggle a bit socially, GA will prepare you for college and beyond.

The teachers here want you to succeed, and they are always open to meeting with students. With the small population, you can meet whoever you want to, making it easy to connect. Even with adversity, Friends Seminary has been able to handle the pandemic well and ensure that they accommodate every student. The faculty is good with emails and meeting all of the student’s needs.

I think the honors & AP classes are very well developed. All my teachers are so caring & understanding. The student life is thriving, with the wonderful clubs & activities that the school has to offer. The school’s art major program is also extraordinary, & the teachers in the art department make it feel like home. There are some cons, like the overpriced lunches. They’re not the healthiest options & you’d have to spend more than $10 to enjoy a nutritious meal. They could also work on improving the poor WiFi connection. In my grade, however, & probably in the other grades, there are girls that show no signs of respect at all. I’ve noticed, whenever a student presents, there is always people mocking the presenter. Also, many students mock the teachers. There are some students that make fun of certain teacher’s looks, accents & races. The school must do something about this. Overall, I recommend this school!
