Pre-Dental Requirements
The minimum predental courses required at time of application are:
Subject and semester hours

- English 6 credits
- General Chemistry 8 credits*

*All science courses must include laboratory instruction. Advanced placement courses will not be accepted.
Policy regarding COVID-19
RSDM will be flexible regarding grading for pre-requisites/interrupted coursework if an applicant attends/attended a school that made system-wide grading changes due to COVID-19. In addition, Pass/Fail grades and course interruption for Spring 2020 will be considered at the discretion of the admission committee.

Application for Admissions
Applicants for Traditional DMDs
All applications to the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine are filed through the American Dental Education Association’s Application Service (AADSAS). Applications may be filed from June 4 of the year prior to the one in which the student plans to enter dental school. Check the AADSAS instruction booklet for the application opening date and filing deadline.

The Rutgers School of Dental Medicine does not use a supplemental application, however, there is a $95.00 application fee made payable to RSDM for the processing of your application. The $95.00 application fee should be sent directly to the school when contacted by the Admissions Office.

A completed application consists of the AADSAS application folder, all required credentials (see AADSAS Instruction Booklet) and Dental Admissions Test scores. After December 1, admission to the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine is on a rolling basis.
Since there may be several weeks between the time an application is filed with AADSAS and the time it is received by the dental school, early application is advisable. Interviews
Applicants are interviewed only at the invitation of the Admissions Committee. An interview will not be granted at the request of the student. No candidate will be accepted without an interview.
Notification of Admissions
All candidates are informed electronically, via AADSAS, in writing of the action taken on their applications. Acceptance notices are sent out beginning December 1.

Please be advised that an offer of admission will not be final and enrollment not permitted until the enrollment certification and criminal background check are completed with results deemed favorable by Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences.
Internationally Educated DMD Program
The Internationally Educated DMD Program at the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine is designed to enable qualified dentists educated outside the United States or Canada to earn a Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree following a special 27 months didactic and clinical program.
Eligibility
The RSDM Internationally Educated DMD Program has been developed for individuals who have completed the equivalent of a DMD or DDS program in a non-US or Canadian accredited dental school. It is intended for individuals who would be interested in pursuing a dental career in the US or who would be interested in returning to their country with additional skills acquired in a US accredited DMD program. This program is open to U.S. citizens, permanent residents, as well as international students.
Tuition and Fees
All in-state and out-of-state International Dentist Program students are required to pay their annual tuition and fees, in full, 30 days prior to each academic year. Academic year is defined as:
- Summer Program
- Fall/Spring- Third year
- Fall/Spring- Fourth year

All applications to the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine are filed through the Centralized Application for Advanced Placement for International Dentists, (CAAPID). Applications for RSDM Internationally Educated DMD Program may be filed from April 12 to October 15, 2021 for matriculation in the following year. Orientation and the Summer Program will begin in late March/early April.
