there are nine public schools out of the 25 best Western colleges, including University of Washington, a large school based in Seattle with some 31,000 undergrads. The Centennial State makes a strong showing, with Colorado School of Mines, University of Denver and the U.S. Air Force Academy, located some 30 minutes outside Colorado Springs, landing at the top of the region. Oregon and Utah add to best in region with one school each: Reed College and Brigham Young University, respectively.
