To enroll in this school, applicants must have completed high school or have equivalent qualifications (such as a diploma from an international school). The average tuition fee for students enrolled in this school is €11,000 per year.

Year 1

During year 1 you will have an opportunity to explore personal interests, ambitions and talents in the context of fashion and the industry. Education is product and process-driven. You will develop a process book: an extensive collection of your research that supports your choices and conclusions. The process book is the basis for your reflection on individual development. You explore the fashion world through the prism of 3 key dimensions: Design, Branding, and Business and Development.

Year 2

In the second year you will have the opportunity to combine Design, Branding and Business & Development. You will also prepare for the Flexible Programme that starts in year 3 and 4.

Year 3

You further develop your skills over the course of years 3 and 4, with a Flexible Programme. You choose a specialisation, a minor and an internship

Year 4

You will spend the final semester of your studies on a final project.

AMFI – Amsterdam Fashion Institute (English Programme)

To be admitted to AMFI you need to have completed secondary education equivalent to the Dutch HAVO, VWO or MBO 4. Additional requirements apply to the HAVO Culture and Society profile. Strong written and verbal English communications skills are also required.

The admission requirements differ for Dutch and international students. Read on to see what applies to you.

Dutch students

You are admissible with any HAVO or VWO profile, with the exception of the HAVO Culture and Society profile, for which the admission requirement for mathematics A or B applies. This programme is taught entirely in English. Therefore, students are expected to have good written and verbal skills in English.

If you are older than 21 and don’t meet the requirements, you can take a 21+ proficiency test (webpage in Dutch). Additional requirements may be requested.

International students

We require evidence that you have passed the standardised examinations for university entrance of your nation of origin. These include but are not limited to International Baccalaureate Diploma, Zeugnis der Allgemeinen Hochschulreife, Zeugnis der Fachhochschulreife, GCE A/AS-Levels in two subjects plus GCSEs in 4 additional subjects grades A*-C, 6 different subjects in total or BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma. We expect proficiency of spoken and written English. Non-native English speakers are required to sit an IELTS, TOEFL or Cambridge test. IELTS (6.0 subscores not lower than 5.5); TOEFL (iBT 80 subscores not lower than 20, of paperbased 550), TOEIC (LR670+SW290) of Cambridge (First (FCE) Grade B (173-175) /First (FCE) Grade C (169-172)).

Course overview

The UK fashion industry alone consists of over 800,000 people. This program will provide you with the skills you need to get on in this exciting and lucrative industry. The Fashion with Textiles Design BA (Hons) offers you a nurturing environment where you will develop industry standard skills in both fashion and textiles. You will expand your skills in pattern cutting, production techniques, CAD and design. We will give you what you need to set you on your way to become an independent creative thinker who can come up with innovative solutions in an ever evolving industry.

The course is taught through a series of practical project assignments, with key emphasis on quality of products and innovative design. The practical modules are delivered through a variety of workshops, demonstrations, lectures and seminars, but the most important aspect of this program is that you become an individual designer. Thanks to our small classes and commitment we can achieve this together by providing each individual student with one to one tuition time every week.

Students who successfully complete the program will be awarded a UK validated Bachelor’s honors degree in Fashion & Textiles Design. In accordance with UK requirements 120 credits points are available each year of study and students need to obtain 360 credits for successful completion of the three-years course.

Year 1 early bird tuition fee: € 16.000

The Year 1 early bird tuition fee of € 16.000 is available for students who apply on or before the 3rd of April 2023 and enrol by the 28th of April 2023. The tuition fee of € 16.000 is only available for the Year 1.

Regular tuition fee: € 17.000 per year.

The regular tuition fee for students who apply after the 3rd of April 2023 is € 17.000 per year.

Application fee: € 350

The application fee is due at the moment of application and is non-refundable unless the Amsterdam Fashion Academy won’t accept you in the programme. This is a one-time fee, so you only need to pay it during the process of admission.

Tuition fee:

Students who apply before the 3rd of April 2023 will be invited to an Interview Day or Admission Interview. If the student is accepted, a deposit (20% of the early bird tuition fee) is required before the 29th of March, 2024. The remaining amount must be paid before the 15th of July 2024, or according to the payment plan agreed previously.

Students who apply after the 9th of February, 2024 won’t be able to attend an Interview Day, but will have a personal admission interview on an agreed date. If the student is accepted, we will request the payment of a deposit (20% of the tuition fee) 3 weeks after the acceptance date. The remaining amount must be paid before the 15th of July, 2024 or according to the payment plan agreed previously.

Admission Criteria

To be admitted to AMFI you must hold a senior general secondary education (HAVO), pre-university (VWO) or senior secondary vocational education (MBO 4) diploma. If you have a senior general secondary education diploma with a Culture and Society profile you must have taken mathematics A or B. AMFI expects proficiency of spoken and written English. Apply For Entry

As there are more prospective students than study places, AMFI has a limited number of study places (around 430). Therefore, the programme has a selection procedure. Once your enrolment request has been received, AMFI will invite you to take part in the selection procedure. Enrolment for the 2022-2023 academic year opens on 1 October 2021. Enrol no later than 15 January via hva.studielink.nl using your DigiD. Allow at least three working days to receive your DigiD. International students can create a Studielink-account without a DigiD.
