One of the worldโ€™s best law schools

ANU Law continues to perform strongly in global university rankings.ย In 2021, ANU College of Law is ranked 17th in the world and 4th in Australia for lawย by theย QS World University Rankings.

Guided by our strong and long-established research culture, we make a significant contribution to the Universityโ€™s top rating of 5 inย Excellence in Research Australia (ERA)ย in theย Law and Legal Studiesย category, placing us among a select group of Australian universities to achieve this.

In addition to ongoing success in discipline-specific rankings, the ANU is consistently ranked among the worldโ€™s top universities, including leading institutions such as Oxford and Cambridge in the United Kingdom, and the Ivy League universities in the United States.

While the methodology varies across respective publishers, rankings are generally based on a combination of factors such as academic reputation, graduate outcomes, employer reputation, student-to-staff ratio, research output and internationalisation.

About Us

ANU is Australiaโ€™s national university with a global reputation in international, constitutional, public and private law. ANU is ranked 12th in the world for the study of law (QS World Rankings by Subject, 2018).

Across undergraduate, postgraduate and research degrees, ANU Law School provides students with a unique understanding of current law, practice and policy. The teaching approach combines academic rigour with practical expertise. Students learn from academics and guest lecturers with real-world professional experience. Small class sizes provide increased opportunities for students to interact and engage with academic staff, visiting guest speakers and other students.

Throughout the year, ANU Law School runs masterclasses taught by leading legal practitioners from Australia and around the world. Past masterclasses have been taught by current and former Justices of the High Court of Australia, the Chief General Counsel at the Australian Government Solicitor, and the Global Director for Client & Market Development at multinational law firm Clifford Chance LLP.

The University offers a range of clinical courses and legal internship opportunities in Australia, Asia, the United Kingdom and the United States to allow students to put their legal knowledge into action and gain real-world professional experience during their legal education.
