The international Education Department at Bow Valley College offers scholarship opportunities to our international students each academic term, and at each stage during their studies. The scholarship program is divided into two main categories: Entrance scholarships, and In-Course Scholarships.

Entrance Scholarships:

International students are eligible to apply for scholarships in this category if:
• They are starting their very first post-secondary program at Bow Valley College.
• They have already completed and graduated from a first post-secondary program at Bow Valley College, and are now starting a second post-secondary program.
• They have completed an English language learning or upgrading program at Bow Valley College, and are now starting a post-secondary program.

In-Course Scholarships:

International students are eligible to apply for scholarships in this category if:
• They are current Bow Valley College full-time students in good academic standing, and have already completed at least one academic term in their post-secondary program.

 through the scholarships portal.

Students who are ready to explore open scholarships and submit their application can APPLY HERE.

Application Deadlines:

• Scholarships open on the first day of class, each academic term, and close approximately six weeks after.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
• Students can apply for more than one open scholarship, as long as they meet the eligibility criteria.
• To apply for both Entrance and In-Course scholarships students must have courses registered for the academic term in which they are applying.
• After scholarships have closed, the reviewing committee has one month to assess applications and communicate with successful candidates.

Online Learning

D2L Brightspace

D2L Brightspace is an online account where you access your course material, submit your assignments, participate in discussions, check your grades, and communicate with your instructor. Being able to use D2L Brightspace is crucial to your success at Bow Valley College.

MS Teams

Microsoft Teams is a program that your instructor might use to teach a live, online class. With Teams, you are able to see and hear your instructor, as well as any PowerPoints or resources that they are using. You are also able to ask questions and communicate with your classmates – just like a regular, face-to-face class.

Workshops

The Academic Success Centre hosts a number of workshops to prepare you for success in your online courses.

Workshop topics include: D2L Brightspace, MS Teams, Online Learning Strategies, Time Management, and Academic Writing.

Academic Success 101

You will have a course called Academic Success 101 (AC101) in your D2L Brightspace account that will allow you to practice using D2L Brightspace, get familiar with the technology at Bow Valley College and provide information on online learning strategies, time management, peer tutoring, and academic writing.
