Admission assessment
All applicants for Computer Science (including applicants to mature Colleges) are required to take the Test of Mathematics for University Admission (TMUA) at an authorised assessment centre (usually your school or college), for which you must be registered in advance.

Submitted work

Admission requirements for Bachelors in Computer Science
Proof of paying the application fee: can vary from 30 to 150 EUR (or more); it is a one-time fee, and not all universities charge it.

Medical certificate: document asserting your overall health condition.
Letter(s) of recommendation: letter from teachers or people you have worked with who can confirm and describe your knowledge, skills, and qualities.
Personal statement: a unique piece of writing and a great opportunity to convince the admission committee that you’re an excellent candidate.
Language requirements
The language of instruction and evaluation will be English; any student dreaming of becoming a computer scientist needs to prove their language level. The most common tests are:
- IELTS Academic: minimum 6.0
- TOEFL iBT: minimum 70-80
- PTE Academic: minimum 50-60
- Cambridge Advanced or Proficiency: C or above
Of course, some computer science schools can have even higher or lower English language expectations.

Requirements for Comp Science B.Sc. at Southern Utah University, USA
- Application – pay required 60 USD application fee (US currency only), 35 USD for returning students
- English Proficiency – Proof of English proficiency is required for all applicants whose first language is not English: IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 71
- Transcripts – Official transcripts (record of courses taken and grades received) from each high school, college, and university attended must be submitted
- Passport – Please provide a copy of the photo page of your passport
- Finances – International students are required to demonstrate that funds are available for the first year of study
Requirements for Comp Science B.A. at University of Oxford, UK
- A-levels: A*AA including at least an A in Mathematics, with the A* in Mathematics, Further Mathematics or Computing/Computer Science. Those taking Further Mathematics A-level or AS-level are expected to achieve at least Grade A.
- Advanced Highers: AA/AAB with an A in Mathematics
- IB: 39 (including core points) with 766 at HL (the 7 must be in HL Mathematics)
- Candidates are expected to have Mathematics to A-level (A* or A grade), Advanced Higher (A grade), Higher Level in the IB (score 7) or another equivalent.
- Further Mathematics is highly recommended. If FM is taken to A-level or to AS-level then we require an A in that too.

A levels – To get on to a computer science related degree you will usually require at least two A levels or equivalent. Entry requirements range from CDD to AAA, with the universities and colleges most commonly asking for BBC.
Below is a range of Bachelor of science (with Honours) courses offered by different universities and the A-level entry requirements they ask for (as of 26 April 2018):
University of Leeds: ‘AAA, including mathematics or computing. Grade B or above in GCSE Mathematics is required if no Mathematics A-level is taken. Lower offers may be made based on demonstrated interest and aptitude for the subject (typically AAB). Where Maths or Computing are required this must be at grade A. Where an A-Level Science subject is taken, we require a pass in the practical science element, alongside the achievement of the A-Level at the stated grade. Queen Mary University of London: ‘A,B,B. Excluded subjects – General Studies. Please note: You will also be expected to achieve a Pass grade in the practical endorsement for any of the following A levels – Biology, Chemistry, Physics – if taken with one of the Awarding Bodies in England.’

If you are from an English-speaking country, there are three key requirements:
1. Academic
Postgraduate study at the University of Cambridge is intense and very intellectually demanding, so the University has high academic entry requirements. You are normally expected to hold or to have achieved by the start of your course:
- minimum of a good upper second class (good 2:1) honours degree from a UK university or an equivalent standard from an overseas university; and
- completion of, or release from, any current training or education course

You should be aware that meeting the University’s or departments’ minimum academic requirements does not guarantee entry; it is only one of the factors taken into account when academic selectors make their decision. Many other factors are also important, such as suitability for the course, proficiency in English, relevant experience, references, availability of a suitable supervisor, and the number of available places.
2. Financial
We need to see evidence that you are aware of how much funding will be required for your course, and that you have made plans for the provision of that amount.

3. College Membership
All applicants who are made a formal offer of admission will receive an offer of College membership. The University of Cambridge is a collegiate university, and all its students are required to be members of a College.
Additionally, if you are not from an English-speaking country or have not studied in one recently, you will also be required to demonstrate competence in the English language. Part-time Research Degrees
In addition to the standard minimum entry requirements, there are other requirements to fulfil if you wish to study part-time:
- Your proposed topic of research must be suitable for part-time study.
- You must live close enough to Cambridge to fulfil the attendance requirements.
- You will need to provide a letter from your employer (if any) confirming that you may have time off, if necessary, to attend the University as required for the whole duration of your course.
- You must attend an interview with the department to which you apply, at which these and other issues will be discussed.

Cambridge Law Entry Requirements: The Grades
- The typical A-level grades for Cambridge Law are A*AA. This can vary slightly for some applicants, but this is very rare and the decision is made on an individual basis.
- The equivalent of this offer for IB is 40 to 42 points, with 776 at Higher Level.
For a more extensive list of different qualification types beyond these common UK ones, the University of Cambridge’s website is the best place to look. If you can’t find the information you’re looking for there, then it’s worth emailing the Cambridge admissions department with your specific question.
So far, I haven’t found any information on their requirements for computer science majors. However, their entry requirements for mathematics are very strict. In addition to a minimum GPA of 3.0 (or equivalent), they also require applicants to take and pass the International Baccalaureate Diploma examination with a score of at least 35 points (or equivalent).
In addition to these high-school requirements, they also require applicants to complete at least three A-level subjects before applying for admission into their program in mathematics, computer science or economics/business studies. These subjects include mathematics, further mathematics; physics; chemistry; biology and English literature.
