Established in 1960 as the Beijing Second Medical College it quickly gained a reputable status as a leading institution, although it was not until 1994 that it was renamed as the Capital Medical University.

In 2001 the Beijing Union University School of Chinese Medicine, the Beijing Medical College and CMU were incorporated into one school, bringing the capital’s leading medical institutions together to form one university. Today CMU is made up of six campuses located throughout the capital, including an international campus to accommodate the increasing number of overseas students choosing to study at CMU.

Professor Wu Jieping, the founding president of the university, was a world famous urologist as well as being a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Admission to CMU

Capital Medical University is open for domestic as well as for international students from all over the world. Applicants are required to fill up application form and provide following documents:

  1. Completed Application Form
  2. Letter of guarantee by a Chinese sponsor (Chinese citizen) with evidence of the sponsor’s identity.
  3. Copies of the latest schooling certificate and transcripts.
  4. Copies of passport.
  5. TOFEL, IELTS certificate (None native speaker).
  6. Physical Examination Record and blood test reports (add the HbeAg).
  7. None Criminal Certificate provided by local Police Station.
  8. Economic Status Certificate and Letter of Commitment to pay tuition fee on time.
  9. Registration fee: The Registration fee of application will not be returned or transferred.

Tuition Fees

Bachelor Programs range from 17,000 to 50,000 CNY per year

Master Programs – 18,000-35,000 CNY per year

Doctoral Programs – 25,000 CNY per year

Non-Degree Programs – 2,000-4,000 CNY per year

Scholarships

Students are eligible to apply for Beijing Government Scholarship only after successful completion of one academic year at CMU. Scholarships are available for international students for Master, Bachelor, Non-degree and Doctoral studies.

Beijing Government Scholarship requirements:

  • Applicants should be non-Chinese citizens and be in good health
  • Applicants for doctoral degree programs must have a master’s degree and be under the age of 40
  • Applicants for master’s degree programs must have a bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35
  • Applicants for undergraduate program must have senior high school diploma with good academic performance and be under the age of 30.
  • Applicants for general scholar program must have bachelor’s degree or completed at least two years of undergraduate studies and be under the age of 50
  • Applicants for long term language studies must have senior high school diploma and be under the age of 60
  • Applicants for senior scholar program must have master’s degree or above or hold academic title of associate professor or above and be under the age of 50
  • Applicants should meet the language requirements of the higher education institutions
  • Applicants should not be awardees of Chinese government scholarships at the same time

Bilateral Program

In order to promote the mutual understanding, cooperation and exchanges in politics, economy, culture, education and trade between China and other countries, the Chinese government has set up a series of scholarship programs to sponsor international students, teachers and scholars to study and conduct research in Chinese universities. Chinese Government Scholarship supports international students, teachers and scholars to pursue degrees at all levels (bachelor’s, master’s and PhD) or non-degree studies and to conduct research in China.

  • One-off settlement subsidy: 1500; Living Allowance: 1400/month

Beijing Government Scholarship
