The application fee and tuition fees
Students who are citizens of a country outside the EU/EEA or Switzerland are required to pay an application fee of 900 SEK via universityadmissions.se. The application fee is an administrative fee and is non-refundable. No scholarships administrated by Chalmers cover the application fee and you cannot be exempted from it.
EU/EEA citizens don’t have to pay fees, but they do have to document their citizenship status.
A change of fee status
If you change your fee status from fee-paying to exempted after being admitted and before the start of the semester, you must contact the admissions at Chalmers to be re-assessed. Without a request for re-assessment you status remains unchanged. After the beginning of a semester you may apply for a re-assessment concerning the next semester, never retroactively.
Start by up-loading the complete residence permit with the criteria for being granted the permit visible, at your personal account at antagnings.se/universityadmission.se and send an e-mail to admissions@chalmers.se.
An invoice will be sent out to all admitted fee paying applicants, you must pay the tuition fee on time if a change of status has not been confirmed by the admissions at Chalmers.

18 October 2021 – 1 February 2022 – If required, pay the application feeAbove is the deadline for providing proof of being exempted (EU/EEA citizens etc.) or paying the application fee. If required, pay the application fee of 900 SEK (Swedish kronor) to universityadmissions.se. Note, one or the other is required in order for your application to be processed. The fee is an non-refundable administrative fee.
Late November 2021 – 19 January 2022 – Apply for a scholarshipApplication for scholarships administered by Chalmers University of Technology is a separate application process.

7 April 2022 – Publication of the official Notification of Selection ResultsThe Notification of Selection Results from university admissions is available online as a printable PDF file, so no hard copy is sent by regular mail. The print-out serves as the official document and should be used when you need to present an official copy of your selection results.
11-14 April – Chalmers Pre-Departure WeekThe week after the Notification of Selection Results, we will host a digital Pre-Departure Week for all admitted master’s students where you’ll get to know Chalmers better. We will focus on a new relevant topic every day, to help you prepare for your studies. An email with information will be sent after 7 April exclusively to students admitted to Chalmers (we will send it to the email address you used when you applied on universityadmissions.se).
8 – 28 April 2022 – Late applications may be submitted if the programme has vacant study placesIt may be possible to submit a late application for some Master’s programmes. Note, Chalmers does not guarantee the processing of applications submitted after the general deadline, even when the application fee has been paid.
The notification of selection result is available from Mid-May.
Mid-March to early May 2022 – Scholarship Award Notifications The Scholarship Award Notifications will be sent out (by e-mail) to all grant recipients. In order to keep your scholarship offer, you have to confirm that you accept the offered scholarship. Instructions will follow in your scholarship offer notification. Make sure to confirm by the specified deadline.
All applicants will receive an email with information regardless of whether or not they have been awarded a scholarship.
Note, this applies to scholarships administered by Chalmers University of Technology only (the SI scholarships are NOT administrated by Chalmers).
12 May 2022 – The deadline for the first instalment of the tuition feeThe first instalment of the tuition fee must have been received by Chalmers by this date (payment for the 1st semester out of 4). The invoice will be sent in April 2022.
Applicants admitted in May (from the waiting list or late applications) will have another date for the first instalment stated on the invoice.
August/September 2022 (date not set) – Orientation WeekWelcome to Chalmers! Chalmers University of Technology and Chalmers International Reception Committee (CIRC) arrange an Orientation week for all newly enrolled students.
29 August 2022 – The first day of the autumn semester and the last date to enrol (register) online!

Price categories
- Programmes at both Bachelor’s and Master’s level within all subject areas, with the exception of Architecture, cost SEK 70 000/semester (SEK 280 000 total programme fee, four semesters).
- The tuition fee for Bachelor’s and Master’s Programmes within the field of Architecture is SEK 95 000 per semester (SEK 380 000 total programme fee, four semesters). Consequently, students admitted to Chalmers’ Master’s Programmes within the field of Architecture, namely Architecture and Urban Design and Architecture and Planning Beyond Sustainability, are incurred the aforementioned fee of SEK 95 000 per semester.
- Single subject courses cost SEK 2 333/credit, with the exception of courses within the field of Architecture, which cost SEK 3 167/credit.
What does the tuition fee include?
For students who are admitted to a degree programme the tuition fee includes:
- Full-time Bachelor’s or Master’s-level studies; 30 credits/semester
- One offer of accommodation but not rent
- One introductory course on the Swedish language for newly admitted students during the first semester
- Student union fee (no more than five semesters)
For students who are admitted to single subject courses the tuition fee includes:
- Single subject course studies
- The student union membership fee
Note!
Students who are enrolled in courses that amount to more than 60 credits per annum will be liable to pay for the surplus credits. Students who complete their courses quicker than the prescribed duration of the Master’s programme (i.e. two academic years) will not be entitled to any tuition fee reduction.

The programme includes courses in leadership, innovation, communication and management. You will also get the chance to develop your competence as a researcher through participation in research projects conducted at Chalmers or other institutions.

This is why only 15% of all PhD students are given teaching assignments at Chalmers University Of Technology (5%).
