About the Department
Founded in 1964, the Department of Computing Science at the University of Alberta is the oldest and one of the largest computing science departments in Canada. We have an international reputation for contributions in the many fields of computing, both in foundations and applications.

Applicants without Mathematics 31 or equivalent may be considered at a higher average. Mathematics 31 will be replaced with another approved course. Students who are admitted to the School under these conditions, will require enrolment in an alternative calculus stream.
Students are encouraged to take high school courses related to their intended major, some courses not required for admission may be prerequisites for first-year courses.
