university of new mexico veterinary school

Challenge yourself after you graduate veterinary school. Don’t want to stand behind an intern or resident and watch while they gain valuable skills and you wonder when your turn will come to put your skills to work? At Petroglyph Animal Hospital you’ll practice real world veterinary medicine through hands-on training, as well as the mentorship and comradery of your peers. If you want your work day to be fulfilling and invigorating, our practices are for you.

We are a two facility, small and exotic animal practice. Petroglyph Animal Hospital has been providing exceptional veterinary care to Albuquerque’s families for over 25 years. Our hospitals offer a wide range of animal services including general, orthopedic and laparoscopic surgery, internal medicine, pain control, endoscopy, comprehensive in-house laboratory, radiography, HD CT, and dentistry.  We offer 24 hour nursing care for hospitalized patients. Both facilities are accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association.  Our hours have been modified to accommodate our staff’s work-life balance.

We strive to provide quality veterinary medicine and surgery to all clients and their pets in a timely, friendly and professional manner. We treat all animals as valued members of our families and of our community.  We have experienced, long-term support staff on the premises 24 hours a day and have been under the same ownership since inception in 1995.

We are seeking motivated Associates who are interested in a flexible schedule to join our exceptional practice and dedicated, six doctor team, for 1-4 shifts a week depending on your work-life balance needs. We are looking for an Associate who has a collaborative spirit and who wants to develop excellent customer service skills. We encourage comradery, mentorship, and an environment for everyone to learn and work at their own pace. Associates have the opportunity to pursue individual interests so, in addition to small animal medicine, you may focus on exotic animals, dentistry, ABVP board certification, or wherever your passion lies

About Albuquerque:

Petroglyph Animal Hospital is located on the west side of Albuquerque, in the Land of Enchantment. We are located within minutes of major shopping centers, restaurants and more.

Albuquerque is home to the International Balloon Fiesta, multiple state parks, hiking, skiing and more. Experience the dunes of White Sands National Monument, take a ride down old Route 66, encounter some aliens in Roswell, visit the ruins of Chaco Canyon, camping at Elephant Butte Lake, or stay the weekend in Santa Fe.

Eldorado Animal Clinic is a well-respected veterinary clinic that was established in 1993 by Dr. Murt Byrne. Dr. Byrne laid the foundation for a successful clinic with a very loyal and dedicated clientele. He has entrusted the continuation of quality and caring to VitalPet, and now our new Medical Director, Dr. Debra Diaz, as he eases into retirement. Dr. Diaz graduated from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998. She began her career working on horses but moved to small animal medicine in 2002. She has vast experience in general, emergency medicine and surgery. The vast knowledge and expertise from both Dr. Byrne & Dr. Diaz leads to an ideal mentoring set-up for a new DVM.

VitalPet is focused on providing veterinarians the opportunity to become a part of a vibrant and collaborative culture where each team member has career growth opportunities and a healthy work-life balance. Working at VitalPet, our veterinarians can expect a complex and rewarding caseload that is both challenging and diverse.
