Marketing (MSc)

The Master of Science in Marketing (MSc) is a research-based Masterโ€™s degree program. The program is designed for those who wish to enhance their expertise in the most up-to-date marketing theories and in the tools and methods used to conduct advanced marketing research. The research expertise available at John Molson ensures that MSc students can work closely with a faculty member in developing their thesis in an area they are passionate about. Degree requirements

Fully-qualified candidates are required to complete a minimum of 45 credits.

In the first year of the program, candidates are required to complete a minimum of 24 credits.

Marketing MSc (45 credits)

6credits of Required Courses:โ€ข  MSCA 602 Applied Linear Statistical Models (3.00)โ€ข  MSCA 615 Research Methodology – Administrative Sciences (3.00)
18credits of Marketing SeminarsUpon approval of the Department MSc Marketing Advisor and the instructor, up to nine credits may include the following:
– Seminars in any other JMSB Master of Science (MSc) program;
– PhD Seminars in Marketing;
– Cognate graduate seminars offered by other departments within the university.
21credits:โ€ข  MSCA 699 Research Thesis (21.00)

Admission requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with high academic standing serves as a prerequisite for the program. To be eligible for admission, applicants must have maintained at least a B average in their final two years and have obtained a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.00 on a 4.30 scale, or the equivalent, from an accredited university.
  • Applicants must submit proof of satisfactory performance on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) completed within the previous five years, three letters of recommendation with the Academic Assessment forms, and a short statement of purpose. (Please note that the GMAT is preferred to the GRE).
  • Proficiency in English. Applicants whose primary language is not English must demonstrate that their knowledge of English is sufficient to pursue graduate studies in their chosen field. Please refer to the Graduate Admission page for further information on the Language Proficiency requirements and exemptions.

Awards and funding

Competitive funding packages in the form of awards, teaching and research assistantships are offered at the time of admission to most students to allow them to focus on their research and studies. Students are automatically considered for all entrance graduate awards when they apply to Concordia, provided they meet eligibility criteria. No separate application is required.

The Quebec and Canadian governments offer a number of competitive graduate scholarships. We encourage you to apply for these awards at the same time you are preparing your application.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

  • A bachelor’s degree from a recognized university, with a minimum GPA of 3.0/4.3.
  • The GCS Graduate Studies Committee will determine the acceptability of an applicant for admission to the program and may require an applicant to take specified undergraduate courses in order to qualify for acceptance.
  • Student needs to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/PTE any equivalent test.
  • The GMAT score is required to get admission in the Concordia Unversity.

Indian Student Eligibility:

Students must have one of the following with grade B or first division:

  •  Bachelorโ€™s degree – minimum 4-year program
  •  or 3-year program if the issuing university has a NAAC rating of A.

Program Description

VISA & Work Study

VISA

  • International Students will need to apply for a valid Student visa before entering Canada.
  • A Student visa is an immigration document that allows students to live and study in Canada.
  • They must have a study permit to enroll in any degree, program or course that takes more than 6 months to complete.
  • Whether students also need an Entry Visa depends on their country of citizenship.
  • The Temporary Resident Visa (Entry Visa) is a stamp placed on their passport that allows them to enter Canada.
  • In most cases, students Entry Visa will have the same expiry date as their Study Permit.
  • Student visa and Visitor Visa (Optional) is required to study in Canada. 
  • A Student visa is usually valid for the length of the studentโ€™s study program, plus an extra 90 days. 
  • The cost of the Student visa is 112 USD.
  • The studentsย need these documents to apply for a student visa:
    • Proof of acceptance i.e The offer letter that the student received from the university.
    • Proof of identity 
    • Proof of financial support i.e Documents showing the financial status.

Work Study

  • Both full-time and part-time students can avail of work while studying in Canada options.
  • A student can be hired for only one Work-Study position. Students can find and apply for jobs on Career Exploration and Education website.
  • Student eligibility for the Work-Study Program is based upon students meeting this criterion:
    • Have proof of a government student aid package of at least 1,500 USD.
    • Be registered at Concordia University as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student in both terms.
    • Have achieved a satisfactory academic standing with a minimum 2.0 institutional grade point average in their previous academic session
  • The Work-Study Programย gives the student a chance to work On-campus if the studentย is a full-time student:
    • Work Part-time during the academic year to earn around 2,250 USD.
    • Work Full time during the summer months to earn close to 4,500 USD.
