Humber credit transfer

Transfer Credits

Students who have successfully completed certain courses from another postsecondary institution may apply for transfer credits for equivalent courses in their Humber program.

  • To earn a transfer credit, a minimum grade of 60 per cent in the specific course is required.
  • Official transcripts and detailed course descriptions must be submitted to the Office of the Registrar along with the Transfer Credit Application form.

The non-refundable charge for processing transfer credits is $25 for one course. Submitting three or more courses will result in a $75 charge. The charge(s) are non-refundable, regardless of the result of the application and actual courses granted an exemption.

  • If you have previously completed courses at Humber, complete the Course Equivalency form and submit it to the Front Desk at the Office of the Registrar.

Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR)

PLAR (Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition) allows students to apply for course credits based on prior learning through work, volunteering and other life experiences.

  • Learning may be assessed through the submission of an academic portfolio and/or challenge processes such as tests, demonstrations or interviews.
  • A maximum of 75 per cent of the program course requirements for a Humber credential may be achieved through the PLAR process. 
  • Twenty-five per cent of a program’s course requirements must be completed through courses at Humber.
