NC Early College Debt Free Degree Scholarship
North Carolina Early College and Cooperative Innovative High School students can attend Fayetteville State University and earn a bachelor’s degree DEBT FREE.*
We will provide selected students with a scholarship to make it possible. Here’s how it works:
- If you are a North Carolina Early College student, have a high school unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher, and have applied for federal financial aid, you’re eligible to apply. You must be a North Carolina resident to qualify.
- The scholarship is available for up to two years while enrolled at FSU (excluding summer school).
- FSU will award you a scholarship to cover the cost of attendance above any federal and state grants and scholarships you receive. You don’t have to accept any loans.
- The scholarship will cover the cost for tuition, fees, room, and board. That means living on campus is covered!
You can earn a bachelor’s degree without having to use your own money. AND you can do it while attending a school that puts you first to set you up for a successful future.
What you need to do:
- Apply for admission to Fayetteville State University.
- Submit the Early College Scholarship Application.

The Hackley Global Scholarship Program is a fully-funded scholarship, renewable for up to four years. This competitive scholarship is limited to 5 Hackley Global Scholars per year.
As a Hackley Global Scholar, you will have:

- Guaranteed housing in the Hackley Global Scholars Community
- Familiarity with the language, culture and customs of people throughout the world

Named for one of FSU’s most esteemed professors, the Dr. Valeria Fleming STEM Scholarship provides students who intend to pursue a STEM major the chance to complete their degrees debt free.
Scholarship Requirements:
- Be a freshman applicant for admission to FSU, meeting all requirements for admission.
- Submit the scholarship application and two recommendations by February 22.
- Have a minimum high school GPA of 3.5.
- Have a minimum SAT score of 1080 or ACT score of 22.
- Intend to pursue a STEM major.

What to Submit
To apply as a first-time freshman, you should submit the following:
Undergraduate Application for Admission through CFNC.
$50 non-refundable application fee.
Official high school transcript.
Official SAT/ACT scores – Waived for 2021.*
250 word personal statement that tells us who you are and why you want to attend FSU. (Required for some majors)
Our freshman profile is: Average GPA 3.27 weighted, Average SAT 942, Average ACT 18. FSU considers applications holistically, so students may be admitted above or below the averages.
*As a member of the UNC System, Fayetteville State University will waive the standardized testing requirements for the 2021 application due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. However, submitting test scores, if available, can contribute to the holistic review of your application.
Application Requirements
In reaching an admission decision, we consider your overall academic performance and grades, your class rank (if available), your standardized test scores and, your writing sample. While letters of recommendation are not required, they give us additional information about your accomplishments.
The minimum requirements for admission to Fayetteville State University are:
A 2.5 or higher GPA on your final high school transcript.
SAT/ACT score requirements are waived for 2021 so there is no minimum requirement for test scores this year.*

Minimum Course Requirements
You must meet the following minimum course requirements to be eligible for admission:*
In English, four (4) course units emphasizing grammar, composition, and literature, and two (2) units of a language other than English;
In mathematics, four (4) course units in any of the following combinations:
Algebra I and II, geometry, and one unit beyond Algebra II,
Algebra I and II, and two units beyond Algebra II, or
Integrated Math I, II, and III, and one unit beyond Integrated Math III.
It is recommended that prospective students take a mathematics course unit in the twelfth grade.
In science, three (3) course units including at least one unit in a life or biological science (for example, biology), at least one unit in a physical science (for example, physical science, chemistry, physics), and at least one laboratory course;
In social studies, two (2) course units including one unit in U.S. history, but an applicant who does not have the unit in U.S. history may be admitted on the condition that at least three semester hours in that subject will be passed by the
end of the sophomore year;
Six (6) units of electives from the areas of language, literature, mathematics, science, social studies, or business.
Course units as defined in these requirements may include those high school-level courses taken and passed by an applicant after graduating from high school, as well as those taken while enrolled as a high school student.
*Due to the extraordinary circumstances created by the outbreak of COVID-19, we will be accepting Pass grades for classes taken during the affected time period.
FSU is a friendly, family-oriented school. All of my classes are very small, and I can always easily get help from my professors during office hours or after class.
