When admitted to Master’s programme studies at Halmstad University you have the opportunity to apply for two different scholarships, one offered by Halmstad University and one offered by the Swedish Institute.

Halmstad University scholarships

Each year Halmstad University offers a number of scholarships to students from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland with the requirement to pay tuition fee. These scholarships may be granted to students within any field of study applying to our Master’s programmes at Halmstad University.

The Halmstad University Scholarship covers 25% or 50% of the tuition fee and will be deducted from the tuition fee. The scholarship will not cover living costs and there are no grants for family members.

How to apply for a scholarship at Halmstad University

• Apply for one of our Master’s programmes at University Admissions and pay the application fee.
• Only applicants who are qualified to our Master’s programmes and are eligible to Halmstad University scholarships will receive an email with a link to the online application form on March 1.
• Fill in the online scholarship application form. Deadline is March 19. Please note that you will need to provide us with the application number you will receive from University Admissions.
• The committee will award scholarships based on students academic merits (GPA but also ranking of the previous university and proficiency in English).
• Applicants with a Halmstad University programme as their first choice will have priority in the nomination.
• Halmstad University will notify the recipients of scholarships by email in beginning of April.

The scholarship selection process for the autumn semester 2021 is finalised. The awarded students have been notified by email.

The scholarship will initially be granted for one semester, but will be automatically extended for the duration of the study programme (2 or 4 semesters) provided that study results are satisfactory.

If you have been awarded a Halmstad University Scholarship, you must meet the scholarship conditions and also the requirements for progression in studies to keep the scholarship for the continuation of the programme. Please check your programme/course syllabus to make sure that you are aware of the requirements you have to meet.

As an Erasmus student or trainee you are entitled the Erasmus scholarship from your home university that will cover most of the expenses during your period abroad. To be eligible for an Erasmus scholarship you have to:

• be a citizen of one of the countries participating in Erasmus.
• be a registered student at a university.
• have been studying for one year (not for traineeship) before the mobility takes place.

Your current university also needs to have a partnership with Halmstad University (not for traineeship) and has to be a part of Erasmus by holding the Erasmus University Charter.

Michael Treschow Scholarship aims to support a talented student who intends to use design principles and practices to improve organizations and/or businesses, and to enhance their contribution to economy, society and human lives. The contributions can be in several different fields, such as industry, society and social issues at large.

One student is selected each year to receive a scholarship of 100 000 SEK.

Halmstad University offers tuition fee scholarships to a limited amount of high performing students who have shown great results during their studies at Halmstad University.

What is included in the scholarship?

The scholarship will cover 25% or 50% of the tuition fee and the scholarship amount will be deducted from the tuition fee for spring semester 2021. The scholarship is only valid for the spring semester 2021. The number of scholarships are limited and is only offered to a few students each year.

The application process

Scholarships will be awarded to students based on their study results registered in Ladok during the first study period. No consideration will be taken to previous studies, work experience or students’ financial situation.

Students eligible to apply will be contacted by email with application details.

Students eligible for application must have paid full tuition fee and were admitted to a:

• Master’s programme in autumn 2020 – registered on the first semester
• Master’s programme in autumn 2019 – registered on the third semester

If you have citizenship in a European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA) country, or Switzerland, you are not required to pay application or tuition fee and can therefore not be awarded a scholarship. If you for some other reason has been exempted from paying tuition fee you are not eligible for the scholarship either.

Students who already have been awarded a Halmstad University Scholarship or SI Scholarship cannot apply.

The notification process

The selected students will receive a notification by email in the beginning of December and an invoice with the scholarship amount deducted from the tuition fee.

Applicants who are not offered a scholarship will not be notified individually. If you are not awarded a scholarship, you will receive an invoice with the full tuition fee amount.
