The Global Master’s Programme in Biomedicine gives students in-depth knowledge within the broad and expanding biomedical field and specialises in creating new and advanced skills for the improvement of human health.

Programme presentation
The programme provides cutting edge knowledge and essential practical and communication skills for an academic research career within the field of biomedicine. It focuses on understanding disease mechanisms at a molecular level, particularly for the most common and widespread diseases, with the aim of developing future methods for the diagnosis and treatment of these diseases.
Karolinska Institutet (KI) is one of the world’s leading universities in the biomedical field. The Global Master’s Programme in Biomedicine is research-oriented and runs in close association with KI’s renowned research environment. The programme focuses on basic biological knowledge and how it is used to drive medical developments forward. As a student, the first part of the programme provides you with a general, advanced biomedical base. You may then develop a more personalised study through a deeper exploration of one of KI’s research areas, by taking elective courses and/or performing independent research projects.

Specific entry requirements
A bachelor’s degree or a professional degree equivalent to a Swedish bachelor’s degree of at least 180 credits in biomedicine, biotechnology, cellular and molecular biology, medicine, or the equivalent. Check the country-specific requirements for information on how to meet the requirement of a degree equivalent to at least 180 credits. Applicants who are in their final year may be conditionally admitted.
Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary school course English 6/English B. You must prove that you meet the English language requirement either through an internationally recognised test, previous university studies or upper secondary school studies. Selection
The selection is based on an overall assessment of the applicant’s qualifications such as previous education, relevant work and/or research experience and statement of intent. Letters of recommendation are not required.
Applicants to Karolinska Institutet’s Global Master’s programmes are asked to complete a CV form that will be used in the selection process. In the CV form, you will find instructions on how to certify your experiences.
