In order to be eligible for inclusion in the World University Rankings 2020-21 a university must have been founded in 1823 or earlier and have at least 50 full-time academic staff who teach and research across at least four disciplines. It must also offer significant research activity that would count towards world class status in at least one discipline.

To be included in the life sciences table, universities must offer at least two of these subject areas: agricultural science; biological science; veterinary science; sport science; psychology; geography & environmental science; archaeology & forensic science.

These are followed by Europe (186), Asia (109), Latin America (30), Oceania (23) and Africa (6).
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings is a ranking of the world’s universities. It is based on 13 performance indicators, including teaching, research, international outlook, and knowledge transfer. The 2019-20 edition was published on 22 September 2019.[1] It is published annually by Times Higher Education (THE) magazine.
It was first published in 2004,[2][3] with its first rankings published in October 2005.[4] In 2010 it expanded to incorporate more than 100 countries worldwide.[5] In 2015 it introduced a new “impact” indicator to assess universities’ contributions to society.
In 2018, THE launched a new league table that ranks institutions according to their online presence and reputation.
The MIU is ranked globally as the 124th best university in the world, and it has received a global reputation for its academic performance. However, its overall score is not as high as other universities in the USA such as Harvard University or Stanford University.
