THE COURSE

In the Master in Service Design program, you will learn new skills in storytelling, prototyping, problem-solving, and business design that you can apply to developing intuitive and relevant service ideas.

Through observing users, you will detect unmet customer needs and develop physical and virtual systems of service experience, working in close contact with professionals from private and public sector organizations.

Who Should Apply

The program is addressed to candidates who have a first-level degree and/or professional experience in visual and graphic design, interaction design, architecture, or creative coding.

It is also open to candidates with a background in business design, communication science, new media, psychology, sociology, or equivalent, if they are motivated by interest in service design and have a strong portfolio.

All courses are taught in English. A high level of proficiency in the English language is required.

INTERNATIONAL DOUBLE AWARD MASTER’S

EXPLORE THE PROGRAMME

The Masterโ€™s in Service Design programme is workshop-based, supported by seminars, lectures, tutorials, and fieldwork. Industry professionals, the programme leader, and project leaders will guide you via individual coaching and mentorship.

The combination of accredited coursework and real-life professional projects gives students the opportunity to build on their academic foundation, while gaining valuable work experience directly applicable to their future careers.

ACADEMIC MASTER’S PROGRAMME

Graduates of the Academic Masterโ€™s Programmes earn a degree that is recognised throughout Europe and the world, receiving an Academic Masterโ€™s Degree (60 ECTS credits) accredited by the Italian Ministry of Universities and Research (MUR)*, in addition to a Domus Academy Masterโ€™s Diploma.

The programme consists of 5 modules, including a curricular internship and a final project workshop.

* The academic Masterโ€™s Degree is awarded by NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti.

INTERNATIONAL DOUBLE AWARD MASTERโ€™S

From September 2021, Domus Academy will expand the offering for students with the addition of a double award masterโ€™s programme path. This will enable student to obtain an Academic Masterโ€™s Degree validated by the Italian MUR and a Master of Arts degreewith an international UK validation from Regentโ€™s University London.

Students will be able to integrate the current master programme path consisting of 5 modules including a curricular internship and a final project workshop with additional classes and a more in-depth individual final project.

The UK validation will give students a more international recognition of their study path and the possibility to gain a Master of Arts Degree (90 ECTS) issued by Regentโ€™s University London that will enable them to access to the majority of international PhD programmes.

Courses

Coursework focuses on storytelling and visual narratives, business design thinking, and design thinking. You will learn to solve human-centered problems by using technology, visual design, and human factors to create user-friendly, relevant service experiences.

Workshops

Guided by industry professionals and faculty project leaders, you will work with leading companies on practical projects to improve existing services and create new user experiences that improve the relationship between service providers and customers.

Professional Experience

To gain real experience working in your field, you will choose from an internship at a company site, a work project on campus in collaboration with a company, or an entrepreneurship module. In each case, you will benefit from mentorship, an inside perspective on your field, and valuable career connections.

COMPANIES

Several prestigious companies and design studios collaborate with the Master in Service Design program, actively participating in courses, workshops, internships, and international competitions organized by the department. Students have the opportunity to work directly with companies like these in their workshop projects and internships. This direct collaboration facilitates mentorship and gives students access to a wide network of professional connections.
