MA Media, Gender and Social Justice at the University of Leicester
The School of Media, Communication, and Sociology at the University of Leicester welcomes applications to its interdisciplinary Master’s program in Media, Gender, and Social Justice. The first of its kind in the UK, this one-year program offers students the opportunity to critically examine and practically apply theories, concepts, and approaches related to the use of media and communication for addressing inequalities and engaging in social justice work.

The MA Program in Communication and New Media at McMaster University is now accepting applications for September 2018 admission. This interdisciplinary program offers students the opportunity to gain experience in independent communication studies research and/or multimedia design at the graduate level, while developing advanced knowledge in communication theories and methodologies, and cultivating their interest in one or more subspecialties such as discourse analysis, gender and technology, performance studies, audio and video art, international communication, audience studies, computer-mediated methodologies, and youth and new media.

The Faculty of Information & Media Studies at Western University provides critical, contemporary Media Studies programs at the Masters and PhD level. Our students are encouraged to critically examine the industries that produce information, news, and entertainment; the cultures associated with them; and the technologies through which they are distributed and stored. The two-year Master of Arts and four-year PhD programs support a diverse range of approaches and modalities of inquiry.
A limited number of spaces are available for competitive applicants in our Media Studies programs. Applicants must provide transcripts from each of their post-secondary institutions, a sample of academic writing, a personal statement of objectives and/or a program of study, and two academic reference letters. Generous funding packages are available for both our Masters and PhD students. Application deadline: January 15, 2018 (PhD) February 1, 2018 (Masters)

As the only media school that teaches all the major disciplines of the Cinematic Arts, SCA offers a uniquely interdisciplinary learning experience. The CORO Fellows Program is a highly selective, nine-month, full-time, graduate-level program that prepares early career professionals for effective and ethical leadership to serve the common good. The Centre for Social Media Research in the Communication and Media Research Institute is offering a master’s program in Social Media, Culture & Society. Students will have the opportunity to study social media in many contexts, such as societal, political, regulatory, industrial, and cultural. Studies are addressed through qualitative and theoretical research in combination with practice-based and creative approaches that use digital and social media for studying these media implications for culture and society. The program is both full-time (one year) and part-time (two years).

Barry R. Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema
The Barry R. Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema is located at Steiner Studios in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Feirstein is the only public graduate school in the nation seamlessly integrated into a working film lot and the first public graduate school of cinema in New York City. Degrees offered include an M.A. in Cinema Studies and M.F.A. in Cinema Arts, with course emphasis on producing, directing, screenwriting, cinematography, and post-production. An additional program in Digital Arts will open in Fall 2016.
Concordia University, Montreal
Concordia University, Montreal’s MA in Journalism Studies is aimed at students interested in acquiring the theoretical foundation and methodological skills necessary to conduct Computational Media Design (CMD) Graduate Program scholarly research in the field of journalism studies. Unique in Canada, it is a research-oriented program, designed with two kinds of student in mind: those interested in the scholarly study of journalism and wish to produce scholarly work, perhaps with the intention of continuing on to doctoral study; and mid-career journalists interested in familiarizing themselves with the scholarly literature in this field and in pursuing a specific research project.
