The program is for RNs who want to continue their education. Students may attend this program either full-time and complete it in two years, or part-time and complete the program in two to three years. RNs may transfer a good portion of the credits that they earned while studying for their associate’s degree. Each student’s case is handled individually. During the last two years of the BS nursing program, the BS-RN program combines liberal arts and sciences with upper division nursing courses. Some of these courses are physical assessment, cultural diversity, community and global health, leadership, health policy, informatics, and statistics and research.

Two capstone courses and a 120 hour practicum are also part of this program. After completing all of the program requirements, students qualify to take the certification exam to obtain their nursing administration certificate. They may then work in management level jobs in healthcare settings such as hospitals, medical centers, and others.

Completing this program usually takes two years. Traineeship money is available as well as faculty loan monies. Financial aid may also be obtained through scholarship websites that include Scholarship for Nursing Educators, Senator Patricia McGee Nursing Scholarship, and Nurses’ Educational Funds. This program is available at the Dobbs Ferry Campus and also online.

“Mercy College has great counselors that guide you through the whole process. They check in on you often to make sure you are on the right track for the degree selected. I like the small class rooms because it allows more 1 on 1 time with the professors.”

“Absolutely horrible!!!! I have 2 weeks trying to register for courses and it’s been insane. Very poor attention, everyone is leading students from one thing to the other and I’m in graduate school now. I’ve been in Mercy for a while and the attention is poor.. I just stood because of being comfortable already. As an undergraduate, they messed up my credits and told me one thing or the other prior to me graduating. So unprofessional!! No one knows anything because they keep switching staffs because this school has no stability, high turnover rate!!!”

“I have attended Mercy College and received my B.S. in Behavioral Sciences. I had such a pleasant experience. Most of my classes were taken online, as I did not live nearby. The professors were so knowledgeable and eager to share their insight and experiences. I definitely recommend Mercy College!”

“As being a previous student I recommend this college to absolutely NO ONE. They are the most unorganized administration you would ever deal with. You deal with a different person each time you try to communicate with them. Each person says something different and doesn’t follow through with what they are supposed to help you with when it comes to sending paperwork or finances. They claim they are there to help you, but are useless & mess everything up and blame it on the student. Most the time your lucky if you get a phone call or email back. I can go on and on about the incompetence of this college. Everyone i know that dealt with the school says the same thing. Think twice before attending.”

“As we look forward to the future we often are afraid of the unknown. One of the best way to not be afraid is to be prepared, I do believe Mercy College is the kind of environment where you are tested in classroom as if you were in the real world. With the real world pressure the students becomes better than when they started their education program.”

“Mercy College’s Physician Assistant Program’s staff are amazing! From applying, to interviewing, to starting the program the staff have always been there with any and all types of help. I am beyond surprised with how helpful their financial services office has been through out the whole process. They reached out to me before I can even reach out to them, explaining every little thing that needed to be done in order to receive and accept my financial aid. They were still very happy to assist when I called them two days later with various questions. Although this is a very rigorous curriculum there is an unbelievable amount of support from the professors, staff, and students. Alumni also visit and assist with various events such as their mission trips and student interviews. This alone states a lot about a school and their program! I highly recommend it!”

“Mercy College is great for those looking for a private institution at an inexpensive cost (comparatively) to other private institutions. I had some pretty great professors like Prof. L, Prof. M, and Prof. R. They made my time at Mercy College much more positive and enjoyable. They made classes interactive, entertaining, and informative which made the experience much more enjoyable overall. Unfortunately, I don’t have a lot of positive things to say about many other professors at this school. They seem to take the approach of just throwing information at you in a lecture, and they lack enthusiasm for their job. The student population overall is positive, and the diversity in the school is good. Administration and registrar can be a hassle at times, but that’s any school. From the time I enrolled to the time I left, the facilities were being fixed and transformed. The main campus (Dobbs Ferry) looks a lot better now than it did in 2009. Mercy College is a great school for business, medical, veterinarian, math, and psychology students, but for those in humanities or the arts, I’d say look elsewhere.”

“Mercy college has a fantastic social work staff and department, but that’s about all it has. The rigor of the social work classes is challenging and on par with what I desire as a student but the general education classes are laughably easy. Parking is a nightmare, the cafeterias are overpriced and underwhelming in both quality, selection, and attention to dietary restrictions, and the security staff is terrible to the point where I have feared for the safety of myself and fellow students under their “protection.” Financial aid and other administrative counselors are incredibly incompetent and often leave you worse than has you not saught their help. The school has no community or culture as a largely commuter school, and I have never felt any sense of school pride instilled in me by the lame efforts of student life. I recommend my program and it’s professors highly, but I cannot wait to graduate and move on to a graduate school with more to offer me.”

I am a mother of three beautiful children and work full time, the adjustability of online classes cannot compare to in class. I loved all my professors and learned a lot from each course. The course requirements was reasonable and very on point to my career. In conclusion, I would highly recommend my school because the classes were very interesting and the professors were very negotiable and understanding, I am looking forward to another semester at Mercy online!! Thanks to the incredible courses I am the teacher I am today. I have confidence in my teachings and feel prepared to enter the education system!”

“It is unquestionable that Mercy College has provided a wonderful learning experience for me, as a student looking to enter graduate school in the fall of 2017. Firstly, the professors that I’ve had, not only in my major but in other required elective classes, were nothing but supportive and helpful. Although, the material being learned may be very difficult at times there is not one time I can say I was afraid to ask a professor for help. They are also very organized as a whole, and I mention this due to the fact that I believe organization is very important when teaching difficult material to a large amount of people. The fact that the college gives a lot of financial support to many students of lower income status has helped me greatly, because I don’t know what I would have done without this aid. On the other hand, the campus is beautiful and relaxing, and doesn’t have any sororities and fraternities. Meaning it is a relaxing atmosphere and a great study environment to be in, that doesn’t have many opportunities to leave your school work to go party. All in all, this is an excellent school and I would recommend anyone to go here. I will definitely cry during graduation.”

The students are very friendly and they make you feel like you’ve been attending the college for longer than you have. The staff is very hardworking and they always make sure to answer any questions or concerns that may arise. The atmosphere at Mercy College has a way of captivating you. It right next to the Hudson River , and its surrounded by greenery. So if someone ever wanted a peaceful place to study or just a place to relax and enjoy the scenery, Mercy College is one of those places. The curriculum at Mercy College is challenging, but the teachers make it fun. From chemistry to art, the courses they provide not only push you, but they make you open your mind and cause an exploration of ideas and thoughts. College should provide great educational opportunities for its students, but it also should also allow students have fun and grow. Mercy College is a college that does that, and it also provides a comfortable environment for all.”
