Supply Chain Management & Logistics is a subject that deals with sourcing raw materials and components required by companies to manufacture their products. People who work in Logistics focus on improving the overall performance of the supply chain, to ensure the fastest possible delivery. This is achieved through efficient planning, which allows enterprises to reduce excess inventory and storage costs.
Supply Chain Management & Logistics is a multidisciplinary field and combines concepts from Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Operations Management, Logistics, Procurement, Information Technology, and Marketing.
Some of the courses you will study include market needs, planning methods, and controlling supply flows. As a student, you’ll understand how global supply chains and national and international markets function. You will also learn about e-commerce and find ways to use this knowledge for strategic sourcing.
Additionally, you will develop skills such as research and analysis, negotiation, and problem-solving. Being able to remain calm under pressure, improvise, adapt, and make important decisions will always give you an edge in the field of Logistics Management. As you learn how to negotiate with suppliers and make things run smoothly, your career will develop, and you’ll find new opportunities to grow.
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management & Logistics will allow you to find jobs working as a project manager, industry analyst, global logistics manager, transportation director, supply chain consultant, and others.
The programme is aimed at graduates in management, engineering and science, practising operations professionals and non-sector professionals who wish to increase their understanding of operations and supply chain management.
The programme provides a theoretical and practical exposition of the factors that are necessary for effective operations and supply management in today’s global and highly competitive markets. In addition, it demonstrates how successful operations performance can shape and influence the sales and profit ambition of a business. You will develop a profound understanding of the processes and techniques for developing operations strategy and managing operations and supply chain activities.
You’ll gain:
- The chance to learn via innovative teaching techniques including interactive games, cases and simulations
- See real-world scenarios with industry visits
- Support if you choose to work towards gaining full or chartered membership of our accrediting bodies. Graduates of the programme will be exempt from the academic requirements of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS, subject to renewal) and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport UK (CILT)
- The opportunity to apply your knowledge by undertaking a work base project which is undertaken in conjunction with industry. Recent projects have been undertaken in collaboration with organisations including Bibby Distribution, Corus, Ford Motor Company, Hewlett Packard and Jaguar Land Rover.
