Transfer Application Requirements
Minimum GPA:There is a minimum GPA requirement of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) for transfer admission consideration.
Official Transcripts:You should arrange to have both a final high school transcript and a current college transcript sent directly to Colby. If you have attended more than one college, you should submit official transcripts from each college.
SAT Scores:As part of the process for evaluating transfer candidates, we review the results of the SAT Reasoning Test, or the ACT. These tests may appear on your high school transcript, or you should arrange for an official score report sent by the test agency.Letters of Recommendation:Two Academic Teacher Evaluations are required.
Essay:The submission of an essay is required.
Application Fee:Colby accepts credit card payment of your $65 application fee online. This fee is waived for electronic applications, Maine residents, financial hardship, or transfer applicants who have previously applied to Colby.
Interview:While an interview is not required, it is recommended.
Other Requirements:The Colby Common Application Supplement is not required for transfer applicants. If you have a special talent, you are invited to submit materials to supplement your application, e.g., tapes of individual musical performances.
Transfer Credit Policy
Minimum Grade:Courses taken at other accredited institutions, in which grades of C or higher have been earned, may be credited toward the Colby degree.
Credits (Min/Max):Students who hope to transfer after two years of college should know that only up to 64 semester credit hours may be transferred toward a Colby degree. You must earn 64 credits at Colby to earn a bachelor’s degree.
