Salisbury University is a public university in Salisbury, Maryland. Founded in 1925, Salisbury is a member of the University System of Maryland, with a fall 2016 enrollment of 8,748.

Salisbury University offers 42 distinct undergraduate and 14 graduate degree programs across six academic units: the Fulton School of Liberal Arts, Perdue School of Business, Henson School of Science and Technology, Seidel School of Education and Professional Studies, College of Health and Human Services, and Clarke Honors College. Salisbury University is a public 4-year school located in Salisbury, MD. The school is located between Ocean City and the Chesapeake Bay, just below the Delaware state line. The sprawling 155 acre campus with its many open spaces was recognized in 1988 by the American Association of Botanical Gardens and Arboreta as an arboretum. The campus features traditional red brick collegiate architecture. Founded in 1925 as the Maryland State Normal School, it later became known as the Maryland State Teachers College, Salisbury State College, then Salisbury State University and finally, in 2001 the name was shortened to Salisbury University. Among the notable alumni of Salisbury University are Baltimore Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti, Businessman Frank Perdue.

ACADEMIC PROGRAMS

Salisbury University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and offers Bachelor’s Degrees, post-baccalaureate Certificates, Master’s Degrees and Doctorates in over 40 fields of study. Notes for Nursing, Music and Teacher Education programs, the largest programs on campus are in Business, Healthcare and Education. While there are only a few graduate programs available online, the school has a robust study abroad program. STUDENT LIFE

There are nearly 8000 undergraduate students enrolled in Salisbury University, many of whom reside on campus in one of the many residence options ranging from traditional dormitories to suites and apartments. The University sponsors many clubs and student organizations including club sports and intramurals. For the varsity athlete, the maroon and gold Sea Gulls, led by Sammy the Sea Gull, field teams in 11 sports and participate in NCAA Division III competition. There are two distinct rivalries with local schools: In the fall, the football team plays Frostburg State University for the Regents Cup and the men’s lacrosse team plays Washington College for the Charles B. Clark Cup in the spring. Students are educated under the Core Values of the University: “excellence, student centeredness, learning, community, civic engagement, and diversity.
