ALUMNI OPEN CALL FOR MOVING IMAGE WORKS (SLADE ALUMNI 2017 – 2021)

To mark the Slade’s 150 anniversary, we are planning an online programme of moving image works by Slade alumni from the last five years to take place this autumn. The University of London is a veritable minestrone soup comprising many separate colleges and institutions, including Birkbeck, Goldsmithโ€™s, Kingโ€™s, and most recently City University. One of its bowls is University College London (UCL) with an impressive campus at the northern end of Gower Street. At the northern corner of its front quad sits the Slade School of Fine Art which consistently tops the rankings of art and design institutions in the UK. It was established in 1873 by lawyer and philanthropist Felix Slade who made an endowment for the study of art in Oxford, Cambridge and London. Notable teachers have been William Coldstream and Lucien Freud. I attended the last day of the annual degree show for BA MA and doctoral students. I saw over three floors not to mention various mezzanines an impressive range of paintings, sculptures, films and installations. Prints from the show were available in the ground floor shop.
