Stanford University Electrical Engineering Graduate Program Admission Requirements

To be eligible for admission to graduate programs at Stanford, applicants must satisfy the following conditions and tender the following documents:

  • Applicants must hold, or expect to hold before enrollment at Stanford, a bachelorโ€™s degree from a U.S. college or university accredited by a regional accrediting association.
  • Candidates from institutions outside the U.S. must hold the equivalent of a U.S. bachelorโ€™s degree from a college or university of recognized standing.
  • Applicants do not need to meet any minimum grade point average (GPA). As a guideline, successful applicants typically earn undergraduate cumulative GPAs among the top of their class. In other words, Stanford doesnโ€™t disclose her GPA requirements.
  • Test scores such as the GRE exam are not demanded.
  • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) scores are required of all applicants whose first language is not English. However, applicants whose scores fall below Stanfordโ€™s minimum TOEFL requirements will still be examined for admission; if admitted, Stanford may require these students to take a placement exam and/or classes to meet the Universityโ€™s English proficiency requirement.
