The MSc in Actuarial Science is designed to give graduates from numerate disciplines a grounding in the mathematical and statistical theories needed to become a qualified actuary.  Environmental Drone Remote Sensing, MSc

Description

This MSc programme teaches the knowledge, skills and understanding to create and utilise high resolution remote sensing data for real world, practical applications, using sensors flown on drone platforms.

Students will gain the skills, experience and knowledge to operate a drone safely and within current Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) regulations. This will comprise theoretical and practical flight training and assessment. This component will be taught in part by an external CAA accredited training provider and students will graduate with the additional CAA drone/UAV remote pilot competency accreditation: General Visual line of sight Certificate (GVC).

Building on these skills, students will learn the complete workflow required to capture and analyse remote sensing data from a drone platform, with a focus on environmental needs. This will include the knowledge and understanding for high quality image capture, flight design and planning, data collection and image processing.Topics Likely To Be Covered

The MSc programme will comprise of six 20-credit taught modules plus an independent research dissertation project.

Compulsory modules are:
• Drone operation (waived with current PfCO or GVC)
   – Regulatory theory and practical flight training and assessment
• Drone remote sensing

Description

Semiconductors are everywhere – from the processor and AI chips in our smartphones to electronic devices for electric and autonomous vehicles, to new sensors for healthcare.
The MSc in Semiconductor Technology and Applications is an exciting course covering all aspects of semiconductor technologies from silicon to compound semiconductors, to next generation semiconductors (plastic electronics and 2D materials. Students will learn how to design and fabricate semiconductor devices and how these technologies are used in applications including communications, AI, automotive, photonics, and intelligent sensing amongst many others.
The semiconductor revolution will create thousands of new jobs over the next 5 years. The MSc in “Semiconductor Technology and Applications” will prepare Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering students, for careers in semiconductor and related industries but will also equip students with the transferable skills for many other sectors.
